Interesting thoughts as always, I do get a bit of a hunch you've got a fair share of suspicions or curiosities about steemit communities hah. I've been here for 2-3 days now and I can already see the benefit that a community can have if you're a quality poster and share interests or common grounds with a number of people - it allows you to get that initial following that you may not have gotten otherwise. But maybe for people such as yourself with a more 'established' audience, it would be of lesser value.
thoughts?

Early adopters do have a slight edge, but that may erode with time?? Let us see what happens?? :)

Perhaps it will erode with time as individual users might tend to outgrow the "minnowsupport"-esque community.
Also check your dm!

Will do donnie - thanks :)

I've said many times that the only way Steemit gets out of Beta is to FIX the sign up process. I have tried to bring a lot of my audience over to Steemit but so many people have told me they can't because the signup process is too hard and has problems. I have brought my "Homestead" community here and I'm really hoping that Steemit fixes this.

Agreed @mericanhomestead - its feels like HF-20 is gonna be the Band-Aid for this one?? Which kinda scares me!!

I know for a fact I can be a snowflake but I have staying power. I try to melt the snowflake behavior/feelings by considering all the elements of my account. I try not to look at my account in the form of just upvotes and SBD gain. That is just depressing for a noobie....so look at your stats for the week. Did you make more followers then last week? - ok great. Did I get an actual "regular" that week, that seems to have staying power too? EXCELLENT! People should focus less on the upvotes and more on their regulars. The "regulars" are the ones that are going to actually come with me on this journey. I try to nurture my regulars with resteeming/sponsoring/and engaging their posts with more focused comments.

A "following" is like a garden- you must tend to it to make it grow strong.

You are a clever snowball @artwatch :)

;)

Block sizes! How BTC hard-fork appropriate!! :D
