I joined Steemit in mid January. I have to admit that I was kinda late in the crypto game. Or maybe not? You see I blame myself for not being informed. That way I could be one of the early adopters. Prices were literally so low that you could buy large amounts with a small investment. There is no big difference whether we talk about Steem, BTC or any other Alt.
So at the time I joined everything seemed ideal. And like every other newcomer, I though that Hey that's it. In no time I am gonna be rich!
You see, steem at that time was sitting at 4.6$ and SBD more or less the same. And since I was a complete noob and i had no guidance, I started following large stake holders, dolphins etc, hoping that with the right comments and consistent presence at their posts, eventually I would get noticed at some point.
Their payouts were dazzling for a newcomer, so was their vote. So I said to myself that since I cannot invest at these prices, I should get all the help needed to grow my account. I was always voting (you know...my 0.001$) leaving interesting comments, resteemed dozens of their posts. But I never ever got noticed. You see most of the large stakeholders care only for a specific group of people and I was definitely not one of them.
I used to follow 500 - 600 people. Not quite sure but they were a lot. And it was obviously a wrong approach. You see in order to grow in this platform you have to find people with common interests, same ideas and in most cases with the same wallet you have, and grow together by supporting each other! Now if a random big upvote comes towards you, you should be thankful and of course don't even think for a moment that this is going to be something permanent!
Of course I figured that out a couple of months later...
Now I knew what I had to do! And so I did it. I started visiting other blogs and reading dozens of posts and commenting almost in every single post i read, from people who were unnoticed, just like me. And it actually worked! Now I don't want to mention any names but they know who are the ones I am talking about.
Next step was to unfollow all those that didn't interact with me.
There is no point in following so many accounts. Actually it is a lot better to follow 100 accounts and interact with them rather than having 2000. Also it is a really nice feeling knowing that you actually contributed and helped a few people to grow.And if this is mutual...even better. If not that's also ok. Of course that's just me....
Which brings us to the point that even though I follow only few people my feed was crowded with their posts, until a few weeks ago.
But not any more...
As I have repeatedly stated, I am a big fan / believer of Steem / Steemit and I'd like to believe that there are also people like me out there. I don't really know if steem's price is what discourages people from posting, or if they just need a break or maybe both. Some of them should definitely be on vacations also, but what I know for sure is that in a five minute scroll down a have seen and read every new post that was created from those I follow in the last 24 hours.
Sad I know
But I try to look at the bright side. I am doing my own research, since my feed is dead and read random articles lately, which will have as a result to meet new people and of course add them to my following list.

Yes it seems Crypto prices are all going down the toilet. At least with Steem you are able to earn a little money, that may benefit those who stick it through the bad times, if it turns around, that is.
I keep shouting about this @ctrl-alt-nwo. I really am.
You see it is not only the potential that steem and steem blockchain have, but also the fact that through posting we mine steem
Inevitably steem and a few other coins will shine in the future.

I am having the exact same issues.. i use to spend hours a day reading article from friend steemians.. now i can get thru an entire days feed in sometimes less than an hour..
I also stick around steemit because i am a huge believer in steem, to be honest i know i will be kicking myself a year from now for not investimg in more steem right now at 1 dollar but i unfortunately have no extra funds laying around.. things will pick back up here when cryptos start taking off again, thats just what happens here on steemit..

The thing is that crypto world is weird. We could sit on that bear market for months, but we could also be like rich in a year or two... No one really knows. But I prefer to invest on this, it could be a life changing factor in the near future. I know lots of people who are struggling just to cope with their everyday obligations, but keep in mind that these discounts won't last forever. If you are a huge believer, take the extra step and eventually you'll be rewarded.

Anyone can use his stake as he wants. That’s a fact. But Iam pretty sure that things will change in a little while!

Όσο αποκαρδιωτικές κι αν είναι οι τιμές τώρα, ακόμα κι αν δεν διαβάζω όσα post διάβαζα -αρκετοί είναι και διακοπές-, δεν το βάζω κάτω γιατί είναι κάτι που μου αρέσει πάααρα πολύ και πιστεύω σε αυτό! Καλή μας συνέχεια!! :))

I'm finding exactly the same thing. Many of my favourite writers have left in the last few months. Some announce that they're leaving because of all the drama or the steep drop in earnings but many have just ceased to post.
And I assure you that the moment the bull run starts, they will all be back in their positions :P

Agree on that. I also joined in january and bought in at prices in the range of 4$+. Activity is indeed down. I check the trending page constantly and have noticed that it is owned by only the same people and there are not many of them posting actively like back few months ago. As the price is declining to near the 1$ mark, so has the activity overall. I still believe in Steemit and mainly think that many will come back and many will come as a newcomer to steemit once the prices pick up again. Other than that I still see a decline in activity sadly if we don't see any big news or update for this platform.

Prices will undoubtedly climb again. And those who stick around at such hard times as this, have the opportunity to engage more and make new friendships. Steemit is revolutionary, and as soon as people become familiar with it, that's when the party begins.
