During the 2017 San Fransisco's World Sprite competition, one whiskey was crowned the best whiskey of the world. Its not Kavalan, Elijah Craig, or any of the scotch or Japanese whiskey. The one that took the crown was... WHISTLE PIG. "Whistle Pig boss hog 4th edition: the black prince" to be exact. Some of the whiskey that are also very good were kavalan solist vinho barrique. That is my favorite Kavalan, but today we are not talking about the kavalan. Lets get back to the black prince, this particular Rye whiskey is distilled in Canada and aged in Armagnac(type of brandy) barrel in Vermont USA by Dave Pickerell. On the nose, it smell palm and bake good. On the taste bud, it taste similar to cinnamon and lemon tea. And the finish is long lasting and sweet. Overall, a great whiskey. Currently still not in the market, will be made available in September, which I am sure to get one. The price will probably be close or slight more that the previous edition, the independent, which will be at the 300-400 price range. I was lucky that my local bar, the bull's and barrel from Alexander, was one of the 6 bar in Los Angeles to get it before it was released, although it was 80 dollar per pour (pre-release) it was well worth the money. If you guys love some good whiskey, this is a good addition to anyone's collection.
Fun Fact: theres a pig in armor on the top to the bottle XD
If you guys get a chance try kavalan solist vinho and barrel bourbons too.
Kavalan Solist Vinho is the pillar of Kavalan whiskey, aged in wine cask, smooth and sweet. You can taste the wine in it but not that much. (91points)
Barrel Bourbons is the surprise black-horse of the competition. (96 points)
