Hi followers, hi Steemians!
Today I’ll focus on one important aspect of Steemit – upvoting bots and how to (not) make money on Steemit. Maybe you’ve read a lot of posts about it but this one is really genuine as I’m quite new to Steemit so I can share my real experience.
Everyone on Steemit is there for a reason. One wants to share his ideas, emotions, experience, but most of you want to make money here (while sharing your own ideas, emotions, experience and getting paid for it!).
You can start from the scratch not investing a single penny in Steemit and that really works, I’ve looked into some profiles and I’ve seen Steemian starting from zero and I haven’t seen any investment in their wallet. As people don’t want to spend thousands of hours by writing articles which nobody reads they’re trying to find shortcuts.
One of them is paying for upvotes. It’s quite easy, just transfer your SBD to some upvoting bot like @minnowbooster, @appreaciator, @buildawhale, @sneaky-ninja,…and they promise you upvoting your post at least 2times more than you send. Let’s have an example:
You send 3 SBD to @appreaciator and he appreciates your post with 6.78$. Sounds good, right? But let do some calculation, assuming 1SBD=1STEEM=1STEEM POWER=3.5USD. You paid 3SBD which is worth approximately 3x3.5USD=10.5USD. You got 6.78$ from which goes 25% to curators, so you’ll earn only 6.78$x75%=5.09$. One half is in SBD: 5.09$/2=2.55SBD=8.91USD and second half (2.55$) is in STEEM POWER but converted with real exchange rate (i.e. 2.55$/3.5=0.73STEEM POWER=2.55USD).
Let’s summarize it: you paid 10.5USD and you got from upvoting bot 8.91USD+2.55USD. You can imagine it like you invested your 10.5USD-8.91USD (both in SBD)=1,59USD and got 2.55USD in STEEM POWER. BUT: If upvoting bot upvote you only 2 times more than you sent (in this case 6$), you’ll lose money. You invest 10.5USD and you’ll get 10.13USD (in SBD and STEEM POWER).
Another thing is that upvoting your post you’re making your post more visible but it’s quite hard to estimate if it’s worth it. What is your experience with upvoting bots? I'll upvote this post via upvoting bot so you can clearly see what will happen.

Hey,so was this a good investment?You got only 7$ and you sent 3 sbd to appreciator am I correct?
I've invested 10.5USD (3x3.5USD for 3SBD) and I got 7.05$ minus 25% for curators = 5.29$. It means 2.64SBD (2.64SBD*3.5=9.25USD) + 2.64USD (in STEEM POWER) => 11.89USD vs. I've invested 10.5USD. My profit around 1USD...not so good, but obviously it's attracted viewer as I can see number of views.

Today it's 5.17$, so my reward isn't slowly falling down but quickly! And it's happened with all my post from last week. I need to do some research how it's possible :-(
