Great writing @emmyyem84. Here are my thoughts.
Do you think we would all be happier if we lowered our expectations a bit?
Indeed happiness is a relation between reality and expectation. If you have a bad reality and a great expectation, you might feel disappointed. That means you are not receiving what you want. So, lowering expectations a bit might solve.
That's why I have a super high expectation (contradictory, no?). I'm comfortable having high expectations because I believe it all depends on what you expect. Is it money? is it recognition? what do you expect?
If it is money, I have bad news. It won't be easy.
So what do I want after all? My expectations will be met the day someone comments "Arthur, I've changed my life for better because of your posts. Thank you."
That's what I want: To motivate people into fighting their own fears, to motivate people into exploring nature.
If I ever receive any money for that, well, that's a plus.
Thank you for opening this discussion.
I like your point of view! Maybe ill try to adopt some of it to my own views :)
I like to say "Aim high, but enjoy the ride". Gotta find a way to enjoy the way up, otherwise it gets really frustrating trying to climb.
