I joined Steemit at the beginning of this year. I noticed that there were very different Steemit images in people's minds during the last 6 months. The meanings attributed to Steemit vary from person to person, geography to geography. In the Steemit community, there is no consensus on what kind of medium Steemit is and in which direction it should evolve. Based on my observations, I will try to define the different profiles in the Steemit community. I do not claim that the profiles I will mention cover the Steemit or describe the profiles in Steemit exactly. The generalizations I will make based on my observations will necessarily have exceptions and deficiencies.
I think there are four types of user profiles in the Steemit community. I will try to explain these profiles by referring to their relationship with me.
Profile 1: Unlawful
There are rules to follow when using Steemit. Although there is no complete agreement on what is right and wrong, those who use the platform extensively know these rules and try to implement them. I call those who do not follow the basic rules, such as committing theft of content, not to strive for quality of shared content, engage in unnecessary polemics with people, be beggars about voting or followers, as unlawful.
We have a nice document detailing the etiquette rules that should be followed at Steemit. I recommend reading the complete steemit etiquette guide created by @thecryptofienend. I learned a lot from this document for myself.
The group I call unlawful is mostly composed of university students and low-income people. They exhibit a variety of undesirable behavior, ranging from crimes such as plagiarism to misdemeanors such as begging for support with concern of income.
My general tendency is to approach these people with tolerance. So far, 4-5 different copies of my content have been tried to be presented as if they were their own work by different accounts. I've been warning them. The important thing in this platform is to gain people's trust over time, so none of the people who copied my content could make any significant income at the time I identified them. Another issue that draws my attention is that content copyers do not use sophisticated methods. They copy the content one-on-one, including the subject and the visuals.
Another problem with the unlawful is that they always ask me for votes or money. They think I earn a lot of money in Steemit looking at the high amounts that appear under my content. I didn't make a penny in total from Steemit because I initially invested heavily in Steem. I wouldn't have been able to answer that kind of demand positive, though, if I'd made a lot of profit. I think the best support for content producers is to guide the creation and marketing of content. Thus, people can begin to generate income in a sustainable manner rather than begging for help from others.
I found beggars wierd at first. Nowadays, I'm trying to get used to the situation. (I don't want to get used to it). I think that cultural codes and the urgency of financial needs that are changing from country to country is effective in this regard.
One thing is certain, this kind of behavior is very damaging to Steemit. So far, I've rejected all the demands in this direction. I will continue to exhibit the same attitude from this day forward.
Profile 2: Quiet Majority
By definition, I don't know much about this mass. I think they enter Steemit more infrequently than the content-producing audience. In my opinion, there is a group of people who take a look at the content and vote for what they like every once in a while.
Quiet Majority does not produce content and does not comment on the content. I can imagine that there are those who are loyal followers of some writers in this mass.
The user statistics of Steemit regularly published by @arcange and @penguinpablo is not enough to define this audience. Again, as a guess, I can say that this mass is mostly women and they are not very interested in the crypto money investment. But as I said, I'm not so sure.
As a consumer of the produced content, they provide a serious contribution to the traffic of Steemit and its affiliated projects. I think this group provides a significant benefit to the community with the traffic they create. I wish they were a little more involved.
Profile 3: Beneficiaries
The beneficiaries are focused on providing financial benefits from Steemit in a manner similar to unlawful. Unlike the unlawful, they are trying to reach these goals by following the rules. They have a longer-term perspective than unlawful.
I'm guessing this group is composed of people with moderate income levels. In hopes of making money, they pay close attention to crypto currencies, following the developments in this matter. They are loyal follower of the content I created for informational purposes. They do not hesitate to express their appreciation and this motivates me. I had never encountered problems with this group. When I share my experiences with marketing, for example, I get very positive feedback from this group.
This group expects the content they create to be appreciated by the community and knows how to settle with the results. They also try to promote their content using a variety of promotional methods.
They see Steemit as a world of opportunities and try to learn ways to take advantage of it. I hope they will get the income they expect in time, even if they don't have great benefits for now.
Profile 4: Idealists
With the highest income level among Steemit members, this group is the opinion leader of the group. There are a lot of perfectionist people in this group, including mostly developed country citizens, who are highly educated. They attach importance to innovation and try to create new projects.
Unlike the beneficiaries, Steemit is more than just making money for them. Of course, they are interested in making money, but they think that the principle should be given priority when it comes to controversial issues such as upvote bot usage. They don't like the idea of content marketing. Idealists pay more attention to ideals than to day to day earning concerns. Some of them believe Steemit should be formed by staying out of commercial concerns. They find the anarchist, liberating potential created by the crypto world valuable.
Inspiration is more important than information for idealists. They focus on long term.
The idealists' point of view may be too luxurious or too imaginative for other groups. Of course they don't mind it, and they're trying to make Steemit look like the ideal world in their minds. After all, they know Steemit is a place that someone once dreamed of.
Idealists care about taking risks, creating new perspectives, making things perfect. When these are done, they think that the monetary outcome will come automatically. They think that monetary issues are just one of the goals of human life, to have different experiences, to capture new perspectives, and to express themselves can be more important than monetary issues.
CONCLUSION
In this essay, I tried to illustrate how people from different cultures, education and income levels perceive Steemit and how they try to benefit from it. I would like to express again that my evaluations are very subjective as they are based on my own experience. Others can make different evaluations.
What group do I consider myself in? I'd say I'm somewhere between beneficiaries and idealists.
The biggest discussion of beneficiaries and idealists is about the use of upvote bots. This is like a fault line in Steemit that creates earthquakes. As a writer who uses upvite bots, the subject comes to my agenda too often.
I think some of the unlawful will be included in the beneficiaries after learning about the environment and gaining experience. Individuals who have recently been involved in the credit system in banking can initially do not make thier payments regularly, but in time they learn that complying with the rules is a much better strategy. In the beginning, being instructive, tolerant and enforcing sanctions against those who insist on disobeying to the rules can help alleviate the problem.

Her ne kadar neyin doğru neyin yanlış olduğu konusunda tam bir mutabakat olmasa da platformu yoğun olarak kullananlar bu kuralları biliyor ve uygulamaya çalışıyor. İçerik hırsızlığı yapmamak, paylaşılan içeriklerin kaliteli olmasına gayret etmek, insanlarla gereksiz polemiklere girmemek, oy ya da takipçi konusunda dilencilik yapmamak gibi temel kurallara uymayanları kanunsuzlar olarak isimlendiriyorum.
Steemit'te uyulması gereken görgü kurallarını ayrıntılı bir biçimde anlatan güzel bir dokümana sahibiz.

Steemit'te faaliyet gösteren kanunsuzlar olarak isimlendirdiğim grup çoğunlukla üniversite öğrencilerinden ve düşük gelirli ülke vatandaşlarından oluşuyor. Gelir elde etme kaygısıyla içerik hırsızlığı gibi suçlardan, dilencilik gibi kabahatlere kadar çeşitli istenmeyen davranışlar sergiliyorlar.
Genel eğilimim bu insanlara hoşgörüyle yaklaşmak yönünde. Şimdiye dek 4-5 içeriğim kopyalanıp farklı hesaplar üzerinden kendi eserleriymiş gibi sunulmaya çalışıldı. Tümünde ilgili kişileri uyarmakla yetindim. Bu platformda önemli olan zaman içinde insanların güvenini kazanmak olduğu için içeriğimi kopyalayanlardan hiçbiri kendilerini tespit ettiğim sırada kayda değer bir gelir elde edememişti. Bu konuda dikkatimi çeken bir başka konu içerik kopyacılarının sofistike yöntemler kullanmamaları. İçeriği konusu ve görselleri dahil olmak üzere birebir kopyalıyorlar.
Kanunsuzlarla ilgili karşılaştığım bir diğer sorun benden sürekli oy veya doğrudan para istemeleri. Steemit'te içeriklerimin altında görünen yüksek tutarlara bakarak çok para kazandığımı düşünüyorlar. Başlangıçta Steem'e yüklü bir miktar yatırım yaptığım için Steemit'ten nette tek bir kuruş kazanmış değilim. Yazdıklarımdan elbette para kazanıyorum ancak kazandıklarım başlangıçtaki Steem yatırımımdan kaynaklanan zararı henüz karşılamadı. Gerçi çok kar etseydim de bu türden talepleri olumlu karşılamazdım. İçerik üreticilerine verilebilecek en iyi desteğin içeriğin yaratılması ve pazarlanması konusunda yol göstermek olduğunu düşünüyorum. Böylece insanlar başkalarından yardım dilenmek yerine sürdürülebilir bir biçimde gelir elde etmeye başlayabilirler.
Dilencilik konusunu başlangıçta çok garipsiyordum. Şimdilerde duruma alışmaya çalışıyorum. (Aslında alışmak istemiyorum). Bu konuda ülkeden ülkeye değişen kültürel kodların ve ihtiyaçların aciliyetinin de etkili olduğunu düşünüyorum.
Kesin olan bir şey varsa bu türden davranışların Steemit'e çok zarar verdiği. Bugüne dek bu yöndeki taleplerin tamamını geri çevirdim. Bu günden sonra da aynı tavrı sergilemeye devam edeceğim.
Profil 2: Sessiz Çoğunluk
Tanımları gereği bu kitle hakkında çok fazla bilgiye sahip değilim. İçerik üreten kitleye kıyasla Steemit'e daha seyrek girdiklerini düşünüyorum. Gözümde ara sıra içeriklere bir göz atıp beğendiklerine oy veren bir kitle canlanıyor.
Sesssiz çoğunluk içerik üretmiyor ve içeriklere yorum yapmıyor. Bu kitle içinde beğendikleri yazarları sadık bir biçimde takip edenler olduğunu da tahmin edebiliyorum.
@arcange ve @penguinpablo tarafından düzenli olarak yayınlanan Steemit kullanıcı istatistikleri de bu kitleyi tanımlamak konusunda yeterli olmuyor. Yine bir tahmin olarak bu kitlenin daha büyük ölçüde kadınlardan oluştuğunu ve kripto para yatırımıyla çok ilgilenmediklerini ifade edebilirim. Ancak söylediğim gibi çok da emin değilim.
Bu kitle üretilen içeriğin tüketicisi olarak Steemit ve ona bağlı projelerin trafiğine ciddi bir katkı sağlıyor. Bu grubun yarattıkları trafikle topluluğa önemli bir fayda sağladığını düşünüyorum. Keşke biraz daha katılımcı olsalar.
Profil 3: Faydacılar
Faydacılar grubu kanunsuzlara benzer biçimde Steemit'ten finansal fayda sağlamaya odaklanmış durumda. Kanunsuzlardan farklı olarak bu amaçlarına kurallara uyarak ulaşmaya çalışıyorlar. Kanunsuzlara kıyasla daha uzun vadeli bir perspektife sahipler.
Bu grubun orta gelir seviyesindeki insanlardan oluştuğunu tahmin ediyorum. Para kazanma umuduyla kripto paralara yakın ilgi gösteriyor, bu konudaki gelişmeleri takip ediyorlar. Yarattığım bilgilendirme amaçlı içeriklerin sadık bir takipçisi durumundalar. Bu konuda takdirleri ifade etmekten geri durmuyorlar ve bu durum beni motive ediyor. Sessiz çoğunluğa benzer bir biçimde bu grupla da hiçbir problem yaşamıyorum. Pazarlama konusundaki deneyimlerimi paylaştığımda örneğin bu gruptan çok olumlu geri dönüşler alıyorum.
Bu grup yarattıkları içeriklerin topluluk tarafından takdir edilmesini bekliyor ve elde ettikleri sonuçlarla yetinmesini biliyor. Aynı zamanda çeşitli promosyon yöntemleri kullanarak içeriklerini öne çıkarmaya çalışıyorlar.

Profil 4: Idealistler
Steemit üyeleri arasında en yüksek gelir seviyesine sahip olan bu grup topluluğun kanaat önderi konumunda. Çoğunlukla gelişmiş ülke vatandaşlarının dahil olduğu bu grupta çok sayıda mükemmeliyetçi insan bulunuyor, oldukça eğitimli bir kitle. Inovasyona önem veriyor ve yeni projeler yaratmaya çalışıyorlar.
Faydacılardan farklı olarak Steemit'e para kazanmanın ötesinde anlamlar yüklüyorlar. Elbette onlar da para kazanmakla ilgileniyorlar ancak bot kullanımı gibi tartışmalı konularda ilkelerle çıkarlar çatıştığında ilkelere öncelik verilmesi gerektiğini düşünüyorlar. Yaratılan içeriğin pazarlanması fikrine sıcak bakmıyorlar. Yaratıcılar ideallere gündelik kazanç kaygılarından daha fazla önem veriyorlar. Dilin kullanımı konusunda hassaslar, Steemit'in ticari kaygıların şekillendirdiği kapitalist dünyanın mümkün olduğunca dışında kalarak şekillenmesi gerektiğine inanıyorlar. Kripto dünyasının yarattığı anarşist, özgürleştirici potansiyeli değerli buluyorlar. Bu idealin ticari kaygılarla "kirletilmesine" içerliyorlar.
İdealistlerin bakış açısı diğer gruplar tarafında fazlasıyla lüks ya da hayalci bulunuyor olabilir. Onlar elbette buna aldırmıyorlar ve Steemit'in zihinlerinde canlandırdıkları ideal dünyaya benzemesi için gayret gösteriyorlar. Sonuçta Steemit'in de bir zamanlar birilerinin hayal ettiği bir yer olduğunu, bugünlerde ete kemiğe bürünmüş olduğunu biliyorlar.
İdealistler risk almayı, yeni bakış açıları yaratmayı, işleri mükemmel yapmayı önemsiyorlar. Bunlar yapıldığında parasal sonucun otomatik olarak geleceğini düşünüyorlar. Sonuç
Bu denemede farklı kültürlerden, eğitim ve gelir seviyelerinden insanların Steemit'i nasıl algıladığını ve ondan ne şekilde yararlanmaya çalıştıklarını resmetmeye çalıştım. Yaptığım değerlendirmelerin son derece öznel olduğunu, kendi deneyimlerinden yola çıkarak başkalarının çok farklı değerlendirmeler yapabileceğini ifade etmek istiyorum.
Ben kendimi hangi grup içinde görüyorum? Faydacılarla idealistler arasında bir yerlerde olduğumu söyleyebilirim.
Faydacılarla idealistlerin en büyük tartışma konusu bot kullanımı. Bu konu Steemit'te depremler yaratan bir fay hattı gibi. Bolca bot kullanan bir yazar olarak konu benim de gündemime sık sık geliyor.
Kanunsuzların bir kısmının ortamı tanıyıp deneyim kazandıktan sonra faydacılara dahil olacağını düşünüyorum. Bankacılıkta kredi sistemine yeni dahil olan bireyler başlangıçta ödemelerini aksatabiliyorlar, ancak zamanla kurallara uymanın çok daha iyi bir strateji olduğunu öğreniyorlar. Başlangıçta öğretici, hoşgörülü olmak ve kurallara uymamakta ısrar edenlere yaptırımlar uygulamak sorunun hafifletilmesini sağlayabilir.

Lets face it guys, everyone of us has its own motives and views on why we join steemit. We all varies from our opinions, cultures, visions and etc and this will reflect in our articles we posted on our steemit account. Steemit is a social-media type platform in cryptoworld and all of us were free to posts whatever we want but of course anytime the steemit dev team can intervene in our freedom to post if it will cross the boundaries of sane thinking. And also, we are all given the previlege to react in every post and even to a point wherein we can thumbs down any article by flagging it.
We just avoid such ridiculous things in steemit like begging for votes or something, honestly it is very irritating but of course, we don't know exactly the motives of that person on why he does it or maybe he is in real need (maybe true in some but not all). Let us just advice them the right thing to do and avoid such begging strategy.

That last paragraph you stated was important, not everyone will be fixed within these categories permanently because as you correctly stated, it may be a function of financial status.
I also think that most people on steem will fall between beneficiary and idealist because, firstly, in my opinion most people like the idea of getting paid and secondly, the majority of persons on steem are excited about or know of the blockchain/distributed ledger technology revolution that will change the world...
so why not support the technology and also make some cash on the side?

These are as good of categories as any other, I thought you made an excellent point that the platform is being used quite differently in different cultures. Having traveled around the world for 5 1/2 years I've noticed huge and fascinating differences in the way people use all the messaging and social media platforms out there, it's actually a wonderful window into cultural exploration. Good list, 4 types is simple to agree on. The only people I don't like are number 1. I think I'm best described as number 3. It is hard for anyone to truely say they are number 4, I like the idea though.

I find your article very interesting and informative, however, I have a slightly different view on the Steemians in your category 1.
I have traveled to many countries around the world and experienced people with little or no income begging for coins. I have also seen people in some of those same countries who are using their talents and skills to make trinkets that are for sale out of naturally occurring objects.
I have purchased earrings made out of fish scales, rings and bracelets made out of wood that is common to a country, and souvenirs made out of plastic.
Wealth is a relative term and it depends on your socio-economic status as to how you view a poor person. I have compassion for the poor and I recognize that some people will not eat today if they cannot make a sale or convince someone else to give them a few coins.
My philosophy is to give a “hand-up” rather than a “hand-out”, so I continue to support the works of low income people when I already own more sea shell jewelry than I can ever wear.
Steemit is a new venture for me that I am still trying to figure out. I invested a small amount of money to my Steempower and that amount has steadily lost value. I am also contributing and reading the contributions of others, but there is quite a bit of diversity among posts.
I appreciate you summing up your observations for those of us who are still “Steemians in training.” It is helpful to read the views of someone with a longer history on this platform.
I am reminded of a verse from the Bible that says “The poor will always be with you.” I guess we just have to decide individually how we deal with them. I wish you success in your endeavors.
I agree with you to some extent personally I think instead of always giving coin to the poor why not teach the poor a better way of making coin without begging.

All of us together making this a steemit community, for me all are good as we are here by taking all the effort.
4 categories, 2 good and two not so good, that's fine we're in balance, I'm not in favor with the crimes, but even if we do not like them they'll always be there, like the Erlichiosis in a dog: we can not eradicate it completely but if try to decrease it, so it happens with some people of steemit. Interesting views! At the end, everyone has the same goal, benefiting from the platform, either from providing good content or from promoting his/her content by payment. It is interlinked. The only issue that should be properly defined and limited is the lawfulness of actions by the community members. The rest cannot be controlled. It is as similar as in in real society.

Bot kullanımı yasaklansa iyi olur. Mevcut durumda organik oylarla trending sekmesinde yer almak mümkün değil. Kullanmazsan görünür olamıyorsun. Bot kullandığında da yazılarının sırf bu nedenle öne çıktığı gibi bir algı oluşuyor. Gerçi botlar olmasa bu sefer balinaların desteklediği kişiler öne çıkacak. Yazılarıma 500 oy geliyor, toplam değeri 10 sbd. Tek bir balina bir başkasına oy verse o paylaşım öne geçecek.
Bu detayı bilmiyordum. Balina ve bot olayı çok kritik durumda demek platformda. Biraz daha araştırayım müsait olunca.

Örneğin @mahfi gibi son derece yüksek kalitede içerikler üreten çok değerli bir yazarımızın öyküleri maalesef pazarlama yapılmadığı için hakettiği değeri göremiyor. Mevcut koşullar çerçevesinde bot kullanmaktan başka da bir yol görünmüyor. Şahsen maddi sıkıntılar yaşadığım bir dönemde olduğum için hesabımı henüz yatırımla ve bot ile destekleyemiyorum ama kullanılmasını da yadırgamıyorum açıkçası.
