RE: Steemit – We Need To Talk

in #steemit7 years ago

I wrote and released a whole album dedicated to depression and suicide prevention with 30% going to Suicide Prevention Australia as they got behind it.
It’s not a depressing album whatsoever, it’s a poignant yet uplifting album which has literally already saved lives and worthy of as many ears as possible to hear it so more lives get uplifted and saved.
I did a crowd funding campaign for it that didn’t do so well. Well, not remotely as well as friends and peers crowdfunding did. Heck! I even had a couple of friends earn more from their crowdfunding for a Holliday (because they couldn’t be bothered getting a job and saving money for it).
Why do I say this?
It was massively dispiriting.
The truth is that people still don’t want to actually talk about this issue. They still want to sweep it under the rug and watch the next cat or talent show video.
A couple of days ago I posted a music video of an uplifting song giving advice to those with depression or who just feel stuck in a moment.
It’s also limping along not really getting the views, bored, resteems and general attention that it deserves.
I take comfort in the resolve that we must still make our art and as long as even 1 person is touched by what we’ve created, then we’re winning. We’re all winning.
It’s hard not to observe and make harsh comparisons, especially when we see fatuous or low quality posts earning plenty of upvotes and resteems, but it’s important to avoid digging in the comparison pit.
It’ll only bring you down and leave with a bitter aftertaste.
You’re an important creator.
Just keep creating content that helps others, that serves others in some way.
Eventually, you’ll pass through the threshold of a critical mass point where you’ll see more significant results.
Just make sure your monitoring your inner results more than external results and your kind heart and mind will always find balance.
Nice to connect with you here.I feel you @zipporah !

We are all winning. And touching even one person makes every effort worthwhile. I'll follow you and lend my vote – small though it may be. :)Thank you @nathankaye – excellent reminders.
