This is one good advice. I agree , too many posts chase people away. another thing is that an upvote has a value attached to it. Too many posts means that you are abusing the upvotes of your loyal followers. They will stop giving you 100% upvote. Hence each of the post will not earn a value upvote. As a beginner one post a day is good. But once you acheive a 50 plus reputation, 2 to 3 posts per week and networking keeps the followers comfortable and improves your credibility . .
