I'm done policing tags

Yea, I'm done policing tags. It's extremely ineffective. Usually I'll spot at least like 7 posts that need flagging, I'll pick like two or three of them and flag them...and then get sucked into a massive flamewar/downvote war that's just mentally exhausting and can last for hours and burns my voting power down. It puts me in the role of the bad guy, which isn't fun.

The tagging system is completely broken and I don't know how to fix it. The minnows will break every rule in the book to squeeze out a few extra pennies from the network. I really hope the devs have more ideas in store, because I'm fresh out.

Maybe I'll just start muting people that can't tag properly, that might be the way to go.

You win spammers, for now.

Hi. when you Downvote then do you explain why, an explanation goes a long way to fix there mistakes and advice where they have gone wrong.

I do explain it. They don't care, and they often just flag me back, and tell me to "go eat a dick" and other clever things like that.

"Ouch" that's not right, sorry to hear that.

You shouldn't have to put up with crap like that.

I feel you man. People don't know how to tag for shit... :/

I still think it would be nice to have a dropdown menu when you click the flag, which gives options for why you're flagging, such as for tags, spamming, vulgarity, etc. This, in turn would give incentive for people to make sure they do it right or face the consequences. Perhaps even a kind of curation reward system in place for successfully flagging a post for improper tagging if it can be verified by a mod. The people of this site are the site's own immune system, and there needs to be a way to spring it to life to take care of any anomalies if/when they're detected so as to protect the system as a whole, if that metaphor makes any sense.

Wait, you flag people for using tags you think are wrong? For realz?

  • What is this, facebook?

Not any more I don't. Didn't you read my post?

Policing tags... what do you know. You're a clown.
