I have been reading a lot of great content here on Steemit that has helped me in my first three months, I'd like to share some of the suggestions that I have tested and found most valuable to those who are looking for suggestions.
Buy steem power and hold onto your investments long term - this will help you grow your influence and your value will increase significantly. Power up as often as you're able, and earn steem by commenting, creating posts, and upvoting. This is one of the best methods in becoming more affluent and gain a better position in the game. As a matter of fact, I gained over one hundred followers in two weeks by commenting well thought out ideas and suggestions on posts. My comments have generated most of my income on Steemit, adding to my amount of sbd which I converted to steem power through blocktrades. I prefer using blocktrades over the internal market because I received a greater return and I would suggest to anyone to look into the various exchanges.
It's wise to look around, be observant, read what others have to share when it comes to advice. There are so many helpful guides available for anyone to become well versed in Steemit and various crypto currencies. Make the effort to become well learned as I and many others have. No one came here knowing everything and many of us are still learning as we go. I know I am, and my curious nature has benefited me exponentially. I gained from interacting with others, and used what I learned from reading their posts. Learning about crypto currencies has helped to motivate me to encourage others to do the same. I didn't come to the platform expecting to receive top pay. I made the decision to stick to it regardless of whether my posts were in the trending section or not knowing that persistence pays. I didn't grow discouraged when I received only a few cents on a post that I took an hour to write, because I knew I was a beginner and had a long journey ahead of me to become more advanced on the platform. I knew I had to be more consistent and to make the effort to reply to comments and give an honest effort to grow a following. I consciously chose to seek out information that would guide me to better results and followed people whom I respected instead of doing any follow for follow, or vote begging. I absolutely do not post my links on anyone else's content nor do I ask anyone to follow me in the comment section. This type of behavior is looked down upon and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. Be patient and continue to create, the votes and follows will come!
Diversify your investments! As the saying goes, "Don't put all of your eggs in one basket." I've heard quite a bit about diversification recently and I think this is also helpful for those who are looking for greater ROIs . It makes sense to look into other cryptocurrencies while your earning, and learn from others more experienced.
Be careful of scams and anything that sounds too good to be true. This isn't the place to get rich overnight. There are people who have put a tremendous amount of time, energy and effort into their accounts and it definitely pays to think long term when it comes to crypto currencies. You will be disappointed if you expect a huge windfall with little effort. If you can afford to invest $100 in Steem without losing any sleep, do it and remain patient - your investments will eventually pay off and you'll be pleased to know that you made the right decision. If you can't spare the money, then don't, there's no need to have the electricity cut off because you withdrew all of your savings. Spend what you can, and sit down!
Right now, I am absolutely obsessed with buying steem power and doing whatever I can to earn steem dollars. I love this ecosystem and the individuals that have helped me to learn and finally see some progress from my efforts are surely a key element in why I enjoy spending time and making an effort to create content that others will appreciate.
Another valuable suggestion is joining SteemSpeak and networking with others. Engage with others, comment valuable feedback on posts, make new friends, and learn the beginnings, ins and outs of Steemit. You can join groups on Discord and get acquainted with folks who will help you in gaining more knowledge, creating good content, upvoting, and building an audience.
Learn all you can about crypto currencies, and the block chain technology so that you can help those who are less familiar with how this alternative decentralized ecosystem benefits individuals and businesses.
Encourage others you meet to join Steemit so that they too can benefit! With more people becoming familiar with Steemit, the value will increase and everyone will gain. Again, invest in steem power and think long term!

I learnt a bit of a swift lesson by spending my own cash to convert to steem and then power up as opposed to using this method.

Should I reinvest my steem into steem power?
Yes, it is vital to build up your steem power especially as a new comer to the platform. You will have a greater influence as your steem power grows over time. I would suggest to anyone to place more emphasis on steem power over the long term instead of focusing on only sbd. When you generate sbd convert to steem power, this is what will help you to expand your audience and raise your voting power as well.
