When i start back in august 2017, i had the similiar question. I thought there is some problem with the system. Basically, your payouts is depend on the current price of steem and sbd. If it is higher, you will get more and vice versa
Yeah I've noticed this as well :P too bad mine always seem to be dropping for some reason. It also took me some time to figure out the SBD/SP split but fortunately I'm now understanding that thanks to some explanation by fellow steemians :)
due to SBD/Steem price volatility.
