Seems I had a different experience altogether from you and your friends you mentioned here. I did write a whole 7 chapter blog series about crypto currencies but it netted me $1.50 (which included a steem post or two) so think that argument that only posting crypto or steem doesn't seem valid, at least not for me.
If you haven't seen my 1 year post, you can see what I think about the platform and my experience here.
But I do agree with you that it shouldn't just all be about steem or crypto. There's more content to create than that and by having a rich diversity of subjects, people will find their niche communities and feel at home here. The potential is massive, all you need to do is look at all the dapps that have been created but there's still problems that need to be ironed out.
How funny. I was just reading your post while you were commenting here. Happy Anniversary!!!
Since you're a musician maybe you would like to join us at Open Mic.
Ahhh so that's where I recognised you! I was on the @spotlight.artist show recently and they mentioned your name but never put 2 and 2 together! Was there a joke going around about DOpen Mic? Haha
Can you give me a "dummies/beginners guide" to open mic? I am only an electronic producer so no good at singing haha

The comment I just sent you has a link. yes, working on a Dapp for it called DOpen Mic. You can just play music and don't have to sing.
I must be blind, I didn't even see the hyperlink haha! Ah the dapp is called DOpen Mic, nice one 😁
I'll have a peruse later on man, thanks for the heads up! So many plates be spinning lol
