You can put your Steemit link over the top of any web page you share, here's some examples I just created:
CNBC: http://clclp.me/4DAh
The Guardian: http://clclp.me/4DAi
Sydney Morning Herald: http://clclp.me/4DAj
Why is this useful?
It allows you to curate the web inside your Steemit posts without sending the reader away to another site on which you have no presence. Basically, they are reminded that they found the page due to your curation efforts and are more able to click back to Steemit and upvote you if they like what you found for them.
Obviously, posting a load of links without your commentary isn't going to be good curation, but done right with your thoughts, curation can be a very valuable contribution.
How to do it?
1. Go to https://www.cliclap.com/ and create an account.
2. Create a new clip.
3. Input the URL that you'd like to direct people to (I used my main blog page on Steemit) plus the call to action text.
4. Create a new post and input the page url that you wish to curate.
5. Copy the short URL to share.
6. Post that sucker!
#steemit #curation #app #pro #tip #socialnetworking #craigrant
Very cool trick, thanks for sharing
Thanks for posting this. I know that this is still in beta, but the UI and ease of use still leave a lot to be desired.
Are you talking about Steemit, or the site I shared in the post?
Steemit - the UI is hard to work with - getting links and photos into it are kind of a pain unless you're tech savvy.
I understand. I upload to photobucket and then copy the direct URL for the photo and then simply paste that link into the post, it renders automatically.
