Hot-linking isn't sourcing. It doesn't make the reader properly aware they are not your images. Since we look at this from a plagiarism angle proper citation is appreciated but not necessary.

Thank you for the info.

Question: Being a designer by trade - the aesthetics of my posts are somewhat important to me, so don't really like the mess of having the word "source" under each and every picture...or in one rambling mess at the end of the post - it looks untidy.

Is it not an option for me to continue "hot linking" the images with a CLEAR statement on the blog post that ALL images sourced elsewhere are hot linked to their direct source? Could someone advise?

ANY assistance in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
