Would you believe the price of STEEM is on the up again? We were on a downtrend since early January and I could feel the change of atmosphere within the communities around Steemit.
During the downtrend some people stopped posting, what douche-bags. Me on the other hand, after a short rest in January, continued as normal. This is crypto folks. The price will go up and down. If you stop posting cos the price is down, well I don’t know what to say really.
But now the price of STEEM is on the rise again and we are approaching 1 million registered accounts. But Guess what? Now I am going to take a break from Steemit and the best part is, I don’t have to worry that folk will think it’s because of the price.
So why am I taking a break and how long will I be gone for?
For me Steemit is not an income source needed to pay the bills. For me Steemit is my savings or investment account and right now I just don’t have the time to invest.
You see I run my own website http://theexcelclub.com/. On this site I blog and sell courses. Its been going rather well over the years but I haven’t been blogging much and organic traffic is falling.
In addition to creating courses for my own site, I also create courses for Udemy.
My newest venture just went live with a new subscription service https://www.accountingcpd.net/excel_acpd and to launch it, on the 3rd May I have 5000 signed up to a live webinar.
This is a new partnership that has already opened many doors. But it does not stop with the Excel subscription service. I have also been contracted to deliver a 22 week online pathway – Data Analytics for Accountants https://www.accountingcpd.net/Data_Analytics_Pathway and some other material for sections of courses.
The pathway is starting soon and I have not started the instructional design process or content creation and I have a deadline of the end of May for that and the other material.
In addition to this I have not updated or added any new courses to Udemy or my own site since November. There is a reason for this. I have been waiting on a new studio and finally today its finished and ready to move into. Some of you may have noticed me missing in discord this last week, well that’s because I had building works going on and it was just a bit busy.
So now I am taking a few weeks off Steemit and discord to catch up on my own workload, so I have a revenue stream that will finance my time I spend on Steemit when I return.
There is one big thing I am committed to and that is the curation and engagement leagues every Friday. I will still be doing this each week, so don’t worry – keep curating.
This does not mean our discord server won’t be active. @mrday and @legendchew will be there to help you along the way. And if you have any witness questions for @steemcommunity then @abh12345 will be able to help.
Hopefully when I return in 4-5 weeks the price of STEEM will still be nice and high

fortunatly these days almost all coins are going up, i myself stoped posting on the platform for somedays so no thanks god the price is going up day after day hopefully the future will be as bright as we desire and thank you for sharing this. tha low price of steem do not encourage people to post in daily.

Well I was going to say, "Don't worry, we'll be here when you get back." However, a lot will be happening over the next 4-5 weeks. So... we'll leave the light on for ya just in case, but you know where to find us either way. ;-)

It's proper lucrative isn't it! Online education I mean. I already earn a pretty decent 'passive-ish' income from a mere WP blog and resource sales for Sociology.
Although with 500K hits a month I can't help thinking I should be earning more.... I think I need to get into Udemy.
There just are not enough hours in the day!
Seeing Steemit as a savings account is my strategy too.

This reminds me of writing detailed out of office notifications during my tenure in the corporate world. I wish you all the best in your existing and new gigs @paulag. I took a little break myself recently, but maintained some activities much like what you will be doing.
I believe some break here an there is great, specially like yours where you are doing something of value to you and another community. It helps us grow as individuals and professionals, and that growth we can use later on to share here in Steemit. Best of luck!

all of your current plans sounds great so i wish you all the best!!:) we all need to be able to diversify a little. i was blogging everyday since january and neglected my other project. Now Steem goes up and i will probably need to be a lot less active in steemit, which is frustrating a bit ;) Anyway, good luck!! and I hope to read you soon :)

I agree @paulag, just because the Steem price goes down we shouldn't stop posting and curating on Steemit. Like you said, that is greedy Douchebag attitude. That is why I didn't stop. Actually, I think that is when I post the most! However, it is totally fine to take breaks to concentrate on important things in life. As long as we can have you back soon ;) I really enjoy reading your posts! Good luck with your projects and seeya again around here :)
Taking breaks to achieve something greater is a motivation, and you are an expert in the field, so the steam price can last and better for the next few months, so when you come back you will always smile for us all, good work
