YouTube Just Killed Small Channels: Why It's Time to Get on Steemit! | DTUBE Video

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

YouTube have updated their Partner's program. Channels who don't have a 1000 subscribers and at least 4000 hours of watch time will not be able to monetize their videos anymore!

It's not all about the money, but YouTube is also making it very hard for creators to be CREATIVE. If you upload something which they don't like, they will stop recommending it to other people to watch. So you could make a great video, but because it has a keyword in there they don't approve of, only 10 people will see it.

I made a video on my new vegan cycling kit a while back...it got demonetized because of the word "vegan" and YouTube stopped recommending it.

Now is a great time to get on Steemit and start pumping out the content.

I completely agree with you man. 400,000 watch time minutes is crazy! I think you’re definitely on the right track making the switch to DTube. Looking forward to seeing more content from you.

**4,000 hours of annual watch time. Had to correct myself.

Bro iv'e just received the Email from YouTube that my channel will get demonitized. What a bum.
Well i'm still going to upload videos, But man it's so hard to make even 20$ on YouTube. DTube is the future for small channels like ours.

Keep on DTubing!

Thanks bro! I just had to laugh when I got that email, can't say i was surprised.

It It what It Is. Im glad I joined Dtube a few months back as Youtube has been getting harder and harder to become noticed.
I was actually waiting to become monitised over on Youtube as my channel hit over 10,000 views but It was taking months and now I know why. Nevermind I just gotta work harder :D

I think YouTube didn't kill channels. What happened is they made it so you need less views to make a full time living. HOWEVER, that initial 100$-500$ that channels will miss out on will make or break them sometimes.

Steemit and D.Tube are more worth it anyways lol.
