HODL means to "hold" as far as I understand it, so I talk a bit about why I will be holding the Steem which I earn in the future. The Steem which is locked up as Steem Power and takes 13 weeks to withdraw.
Steem Power gives you influence in the Steemit community.
The more Steem Power you have the bigger your upvote. This means you can support content creators you believe are doing a good job on here.
I also think that the future of the Steem cryptocurrency is looking bright and I'll treat the Steem I do have as a long term investment.
Obviously converting Steem Power to Steem (called "Power Down") is a personal choice. These are just my thoughts. Let me know what you think!

I'm totally with you on hodl'ing, and I think as activists who stand for something, we have more responsibility to have a lot of steem power.
That's not even close to true. Me and a small group of my (Now rich...) friends basically coined the term "HODL" and it does NOT mean "Hold" written fast...
It stands for "Hold On for Dear Life" as in "When a coin appreciates/depreciates... don't sell it... Hold On for Dear Life... Wait until that coin reaches heights unexpected/projected and CONTINUE to hold them.. Retention is the biggest factor in valuation of any coin/cryptocurrency.
"HOLD!!!", "Written fast as in a rush" Was NEVER and WILL NEVER BE the definition of "HODL." Those people who claim that are just ignorant! :) It means "Hold On for Dear Life!" As in, don't sell your investment, no matter how good/bad it seems! As it will GROW majorly over time! :)
Hope this helped clarify what "HODL" means, to you, as I've seen many an idiot claim that it means something other than what it truly is, "Hold On for Dear Life."
Much love to you and I hope you don't take this disrespectfully! It was simply meant to give you the REAL definition of HODL! :)
Great to have clarification on that. I thought it was the misspelling of a drunken poster on bitcointalk. Either way, I think you would be mad to sell your Steem now, there are so many new signups to steemit everyday that a value is being added to the Steem blockchain.
Murphy's law, you withdraw, then the price shoots up. So, hodl until your limit, and a little longer, then good things are sure to happen :)
Crypto world is so new that it will see more and more adoption into the mainstream.
Early followers for sure will get benefited so holding a coin especially Steem, which is unique is a wise choice. I am starting to investing here too, we will see how it goes. Good luck to all Steemians :)
