RE: What Would You Like To Change In Steemit?

in #steemit6 years ago

As @trincowski mentions and you do it is good to try and have the tags describe your post, but at the back of my mind I always have that nagging voice that says but that tag may describe your content, yet no one uses it etc etc. I need to keep in mind that my content does not necessarily get discovered in that fashion, and it is a choice between some random tag and one that is a supposed curation target, I for one always add the #writing tag only because it is an actual tag , but in general I am not too concerned with specific content tags and maybe I aught to be , most of my content gets discovered by accident, maybe someone resteems or wonders why I resteemed them or commented, I doubt it has ever been from a search or even from scrolling through a tag. with that said I do agree tags need to be from global to specific, @dreemsteem once said she only uses tags to show which communities she supports, for example, mostly that is what we all do.

I wold like to see the reward pool go 50/50 but also have continues voting to the same accounts be reduced, like RC , the more you vote to the same account in a short period the less your vote influence becomes.

I do like the 14 day payout on whaleshares purely from a curation standpoint.

As for resteems, the interface has all the power, they need to implement these features providing users with intuitive ui's and settings, a big thing missing on many is customizability. They can hide resteems if a post has been edited. Although I feel steemit has stopped giving a shit which is fair enough now let the rest please build something we can be proud off. Give us our flagship interface.

I know! I've decided to use only Finnish words in my @jokinmenipieleen posts as I am writing in Finnish there, and those tags certainly are the kind that no-one uses. And the weird thing is that after 7 days, If the tag is unpopular enough, if I click on the tag that I know I've used at least once, it doesn't seem to exist anymore! It's not Trending, New, Hot or Promoted, so no-one can find it anymore. That sucks. Although sometimes new tags go several years back! Try to fins my #skynet post from 5 months ago. It exists but you can't find it by clicking that tag. At least I couldn't yesterday. I have no idea why.

I think there should be two fields for an author to fill. Tags and key words. The first could be about communities, contests and such and the key words should be about the content of the text and only that.

Hashtags work just fine in Twitter, FB and Instagram even when people and groups invent different kind of tags. Why not Steemit? Or is it because you are allowed only 5 tags? As you said, people use the tags that could bring people to their post, not necessarily the most relevant tags. (Of course Steepshot is an exception with the tags.)

Although I feel steemit has stopped giving a shit which is fair enough now let the rest please build something we can be proud off.

Hear hear.

I would prefer to see the reward pool go 95/5 so that people would start upvoting whenever they wanted instead of upvoting only during the first 15 minutes of a post. :-P
