Daily Steem Stats Report - Friday, September 28, 2018

in #steemit6 years ago

Here's my first 'Steem Stats Report' since the blockchain forked to version 0.20 last Tuesday. The numbers are depressing, but let's hold on to our long term vision without focussing too much on these short term figures. I'm sure both the Steemit developers and the witnesses learned a lot from everything that happened. A lot has been written about doing more tests on the testnet, better documentation on the changes and so on. All good things. I just let the dust settle and I expect interacting with the Steem blockchain to improve in the coming days. I'm curious how my charts will look next week.

All data comes directly from the Steem blockchain and is based on UTC time.

3. Daily accounts transacting

A 'transacting account' is a Steem account that made at least one transaction on the Steem blockchain. This can be a vote, post, comment, transfer, power up or sbd conversion. Users who only read from the Steem blockchain without interacting are not included. The actual number of 'Active users' is therefore much higher than the accounts transacting.

Good work 👍

Anyone remember Mircosoft Windows version 1.0? I own a copy. I got it free when I purchased Adobe Page Maker 3.0.

My Point? They both were horrible, crashed all the time and didn't work very well. But you could see the potential, the direction they were heading.

Now look at them. Well windows anyway. You may still hate it but it's on 90% of the worlds computers!

These are growing pains. This is the first time something like this has ever been tried. It's a "figure it out as you go" type project that's decentralized to boot. Of course the ride is going to be bumpy. But give it some time to mature. Windows wasn't useful until version 3.1, and wasn't decent until XP (which was version 7 or 8 depending on how you count versions) and in my opinion wasnt great until Windows 7 (now it sucks again).

steem is a GREAT IDEA going in a good direction with as far as I can tell decent intentions so give it some time.

And don't expect anything until the word "beta" is removed from the logo.

Exactly!

Just to bad 2 upvotes costed me 28% VP atm, lol...

Btw; will your Steemnow.com get a RC bar?

Yes, i plan to add RC stats to both steemnow.com and steemblockexplorer.com :-)
Probably next week...

Faced with the same problem. It also takes many time to recover SP...

Wow! Pretty bad!
I wonder how much better the stats will be tomorrow.
On the bright side accounts transacting didn't fall as bad.

I am very optimistic in regards to steemit. Well said: "lets focus on long term vision, not on short term figures!"

My "longterm view" is to dump 95% of all my Steem when it reaches 30K Satoshi (luckily most of it sits on exchanges). They (@timcliff & co) don't want to give us back our views, we have no ability to block unwanted visitors and bots from our posts, whales/witnesses flag down your rep and posts for no reason at all, 0.03% has 60% of all voting power, 1.8% has 98% of all voting power, after 7 days you can't reward any post, no matter how good the quality, I'm done with this thing.

Numbers are bad. The way the average user is treated here is worse.
I like the idea of steem, it is run terribly.
They don't care about the little guy average user.
Most don't want to accept it. Most can't explain it. Linux run servers. By who? Decentralized? Secure?
I'm back but probably not for long. 7 months and no improvements. More broken. EOS is based on this.
Love dan but why?
Comparisons to microsoft are dreamy but misplaced.
Would you have supported microsoft knowing about bill gates family history. Does it matter?

Fair enough - there are many problems with Steemit, which I hope over time will be fixed....

lols :D

Another dip was inevitable when most of us couldn't do anything after the hardfork. It's getting back to normal now. I see a certain big self-voter is making a lot less for now, so that's one good result. I hope to see less spam and vote farming from now on.

killed the bid-bots too.
awww..what a shame.

Let's see how things go from here. I don't think we've seen the last of the so-called bots, but some voting abuse should be less viable now.

I feel so abused.
will you send me some Steem to help ease the pain?

Off the cliff we go! No doubt things will pick up again, but will be interesting to see just how much spam posting has been stopped by the new RC regime, and where the new daily post and comment averages will settle.

Can only get better from here PP!

SK.

The niche is in infancy and sometimes we need to make adjustment along the way.

If people are fulltime on here (or just spend lots of time here) then the HFis probably a good thing - get some fresh air and also time to think of new blogs ieas!

A couple days off to recharge never hurt anyone.

Very curious how these stats will be 1 or 2 weeks from now. Then we can see if HF20 will had an effect.
The number of comments should decrease, cause some notorious spammers will run out of resource credits.
Cheers,
Peter

The rate of STEEM transfer to and from exchanges is down because the exchanges have nodes and those nodes have been down for almost 2 weeks. STINC could reach out to the exchanges and provide support to get the nodes back in operation. Since STINC can't even successfully roll out a fork, I don't think they are competent enough to help the exchanges. This support needs to come from people like you.
