A 'transacting account' is a Steem account that made at least one transaction on the Steem blockchain. This can be a vote, post, comment, transfer, power up or sbd conversion. Users who only read from the Steem blockchain without interacting are not included. The actual number of 'Active users' is therefore much higher than the accounts transacting.

10. Steem Price Update
¯\___(ツ)____/¯ Follow me @penguinpablo for daily Steem statistics.
Pablo, I actually came here to let you know your SteemNow site is not working. It shows ZERO for everything. I doubt Steem is quite that bad yet, so maybe a glitch?
Thank you for reaching out to me.
It was a problem with loading the Steem.JS file from a CDN which is down since last sunday. I switched to a new CDN and everything is working properly now.
You might have to clear your browser cache if it still doesn't work on your side.
Postings on the decline, More power down then up, more transfer to exchanges then back and a HF which will make it worse again (just like the last one).
And for those who argue that the HF is for Investors™ i like to point out that without an active user base creating interesting posting your investment goes down the drain:
Perviously I power up to make use of such a low prices but the last HF didn't do anything for small and new users and the next one seems ever worse.
We need more payout for postings below 20 STEEM not for postings with more.
The reply to you:
It is not true, in the sense that any creator of a post who has an SP of under...what? $2,000, is not likely to make any money. Making money, the term, is relative. Not even the members who are very poor are going to bother if all they can earn is a few steem cents, with a total of one US ollar per week or per month. That is not earning money, just the cost of web connection becomes an expense that reduces what we earn to negative figures. For the majority, if we are to pay, then we might as well do something fun and play a game or watch a movie...elsewhere.
Do not forget that if by accident you DO earn some money, with the big boys deciding to finance Flagging, you'll soon be saying bye-bye to your tiny income stream. You do not have to do anything wrong, as they can and do flag just because they feel like it.
All those 'socialists' who are depending on our good (or submissive) natures are dreaming. We are not as stupid as they seem to think we are; many have awoken. Only the very poor and desperate are still unaware. Be interesting to see how much money they make from them, since their SP, in many cases, is so low they cannot post more often than once a week.
By the way, we are not earning 50% of what others awarded us, we are only getting the 43% - and as we are told, if your earnings are under 20STEEM, you are further reduced and only backed if you can earn over 20STEEM.
Who earns over? The dolphins and whales - in other words, the minority.
I have therefore unticked most of my witnesses - since the top 20 showed us they voted for what earns THEM more, not for us. Unticking does not help if it is just me...plus, we need to vote for witnesses who are not in the top 30 or so. Get them up into the top 20 and that becomes a game changer - otherwise, there is nothing we can do. Just walk away, or Decline Payout on our posts so that that fat cats cannot curate and earn from us.

There is a bit of a decline in users recently and the potential for lower posting rewards will not help. You need a lot of SP to really benefit from the curation rewards. But I will tell people you can still earn more of Steem than you are likely to get elsewhere. What we need is more real curation of good content rather than self-interest. We need to think about what future Steem has.
It will be interesting to see what difference HF21 makes to the graphs in the next week or two.
