RE: SteemIT Monetisation Without Ads - Learning From Pinterest

in #steemit9 years ago (edited)

Steemit itself could modify Amazon links to include a ref code, however I'm not sure if they would. It would be modifying (albeit only slightly, still modifying) what a user has posted or intended to post. Plus what if a user puts a ref code in their Amazon link? I think that is acceptable. Would Steemit overwrite it? I bet this Skimlinks 3rd-party service thing would.

Sort:

Any link even ref-linked will be re-ref-linked to SteemITs code.

This solely depends on what Val and Dan want to do. I use to write on Squidoo and Hubpages which offered a revenue split between authors and the website. Using personal affiliate links IMO will lead to more spam (they won't make much due to flagging) but it will be harder to curate.

I think using a generic SteemIT powered affiliate system vs personal affiliate links has pros and cons. One con being modification.

Great discussion btw.

Adding to my thoughts here :

The system can provide revenue by a post by post basis so the initial author can get the revenue without needing to sign-up and other hassles. More complex integration but very worthwhile IMO.
