I'M THINKING OF GETTING BRAVE --- Has Anyone Else Switched? THE TIME SEEMS RIGHT.

in #steemit8 years ago

I am thinking of going BRAVE and would like to know if this is a safe and a good move. I want to do this for all my devices. Android, Windows > laptops, tablets and desktop.

Watch the short and entertaining video below. It explains what BRAVE does.

It would be great to have a browser that wouldn't interfere with my internet life. It's to the point where I have to go to other browsers just to get simple facts on a topic because of the censorship. I would love answers on BRAVE which is getting rave reviews. I TRUST STEEMIANS advise over other reviewers, so, won't you let me know what you think or how this new browser is working for you. Let me know how long you've been using it and your experience (both good and bad.)

All of this sounds too good to be true, but, Google and Bing have been a disappointment. I don't enjoy having to clean out the virses more often than it use to be. TIME FOR A CHANGE, but, is this the way to go?

I love that it blocks ads but does that stop some websites from being able to come up/be used?

For those who are more experienced > I would love tips on setting up. Which is the best way to go. Does steemit site work well with BRAVE?

Is this a smart move using cryptocurrency? Is it safe/secure? I need help on this end when it deals with money.

Anything you have to offer in making the switch to BRAVE would be advantageous. Right now, I am using Chrome and Bing. I can see an advantage to go with something that is faster, blocks ads and doesn't censor the internet.

Do I have to use bitcoin? Could I use steemit? Is anyone using Steem to do micropayments? How do you set that up if you can use steem payments?

BRAVE is open source > what good would that be for a user? Can someone explain this or give me examples?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. I am an artist and I find the geek part of it difficult to understand but I am willing to learn.

I have already installed it and used for a while! It works real well and also makes browsing anonymous. However, I will be it using much more as soon as they implement payment for watching their ads ))) Seems more interesting that way!

Wow. Thank you I am following you now and will UPvote your comment. That was informative. Do they pay your for watching ads with bitcoin?

They are planning to do so in the future. Right now they only allow you to pay evenly to websites you visit most often. For example, you load 10 USD and allow the system to distribute it evenly amongst the sites you visit for the next month. Brave will create a bitcoin wallet for each website even if they do not ask for it. The publisher website will have an option to take their reward any time. Very interesting concept

Yes, that is a very interesting concept. Thank you.

It actually pays in proportion to the frequency and duration that you have the web site open. Here's a sample payout report that I posted in March. Right now, you have to use bitcoin to load the browser wallet. In the long term, it'll be a new token.

They're creating a new token so they can pay you for accepting the ad. It will be called BAT (Basic Attention Token) and built on top of Ethereum. The web site is here. The big drawback is that the only thing you can do with the BAT you get from them is to pay publishers. As I understand it, there will be no way for browser users to transfer funds out of the wallet.

That is a big drawback. If they want to grow they need to rethink that. Great info. Thank you.

Thanks, I'm not into browser anymore since a while, definitely gotta check it out though. I've tried a lot of browsers before, let's see if I'll put Opera aside after all these years...
... Good start, I see it's NOT Gecko engine (Firefox) based hehe

Please let me know what you think and any good tips are appreciated.

I was not aware of this one - just installed it on my phone. Thanks!

Please come back and give me some feedback on your experience. Thanks

I have installed it on my Android, but haven't used it yet. I also installed it on my PC (64bit Win7Pro) and found it useless because it cannot download Pepper Flash. When I try the DOWNLOAD link, the permission question (Deny or Allow, with feature to remember the choice) and I tick "remember" and "allow," then hit DOWNLOAD again. Nothing is downloaded, I'm just stuck in an endless loop of "remember/allow/download" - which pretty much makes it worthless at the moment. Weirder yet: After closing the browser, it disappeared from my PC...and I did not uninstall it. There is no trace of it left on my Dell. Even more interesting: Control Panel-->Remove Programs shows Brave, but cannot uninstall it (because it does not exist anywhere on the system)...nor re-install it. From where I sit, this strange behavior is more than enough for me to turn my back on it and walk away - fast. (On Android, it seems to be working fine.)

Woah. That is useful info about the desktop. Let me know how you uninstalled it.

I've been using it for over a year. There are still a few sites where I have to switch browsers, but on the Windows desktop that's starting to be unusual. Most sites work well, and the speed is perceptibly faster. It's still got room for improvement on Android - works fine for steemit, though. ; -)

It sounds like the desktop Brave has some bugs to work out. What kinds of unusual things are happening on the BRAVE desktop program? Did it disappear?

No, mine has never disappeared. The only problem I've had is compatibility with certain web sites, but that's getting more and more unusual as time goes on.

By unusual you mean BRAVE doesn't work on more and more web sites.?

No, the other way around. It's getting unusual to land on a web site that doesn't work with brave.

That's going to ruin it for BRAVE if they don't do something about that. OK excellent information to know. MANY THANKS.

Been looking for a new browser for a while. This looks amazing. Downloaded it immediately and am using it right now. Seems saucesome so far.

this information is very useful!
