RE: Gamification of Politics: Political Usage of Steemit

in #steemit9 years ago

My observation in these last few weeks has made me wonder how politics might react to a platform like Steemit. Considering how some have 'won the game' as you put it, the financial independence that Steemit can effect may change the dynamics of constituent/candidate relationship.

its uncertain if Steemit will rise far and fast enough to be a factor in this election year, but if not this one, then surely the next election in a Steemit popular, voting country. Are we ready for the march of superpacs and big money?

Thanks for the great morning read!

Steemit probably wont have much impact on US politics for another decade. Look how long it took Twitter to influence elections but now it does. The fact is, in countries where money goes further the effects of Steemit could be more dramatic.

Interesting. Could something be said of environmental factors? Technology progresses much more rapidly in today's environment than in 2006's. For example, I had a Palm Treo and MySpace ruled. We've since assimilated social networks into our culture so much so that a new player with the right formula could break all the rules, perhaps?

I do agree that the effect on American politics will be long in coming, barring some black swan event. But in smaller enclaves like New Hampshire, whose freedom loving folk hawkishly participate in local government, this platform could quickly become an important tool with substantive political effects.
