Steemit isn't just another website! A lot of thought, time and effort has gone into Steem.
Case in point, here is a 50 second clip of Apple executives racking their brains about this in 2010, so much so that they roped in a severely ill Jobs to help figure out how to solve the very problem that Steem solves:
"... And with the projected failure of the paywall, we're in dire straits. We really need your help."
"To help news gathering organizations find new ways of expression, so they can afford to get paid, so they can afford to keep their news gathering and editorial operations intact, I'm all for."
"Great, can you elaborate? Give us any specifics?"
It's complicated!
I've been digging into the code and organization behind Steem. It's more than complicated, it's genius!
"On the shoulders of giants"
I would like you to consider how the highest achievements of the previous generations is our starting point. Their roof is our floor. Talk to your parents and grandparents, ask them how much effort even the littlest of things took them and compare that with your life. Even if the world isn't perfect and a lot of things are still wrong, the previous generations have created more wealth, safety, stability and abundance than there has ever been.
Think about this when you get discouraged, or you feel worthless. You have more options than even the wealthiest of the wealthy had just a few decades ago. If you have your health, you even beat many of them today. Your time here comes with an expiry date, others will pick up where you leave off.
a really interesting piece of video... shocking though - saddened to see such a close portrayal of Steve Job's illness - the intimacy of it makes me want to question whether it is even real... never seen anything like it... so sad to see... Extremely interesting though, in terms of, as you say, the 'code and organisation behind Steem', and Apple's 'projected failure of it's paywall'... Even apple has an expiry date... With the world's 'imperfections' and 'wrongness', it's heartening to know that there's many good people out there working out new ways which have the potential for so much good... High hopes for Steem... some very good points: our floor is the very roof of previous generations, and we have opportunities we don't even realise... ... yup... you're right, now is the time for further true innovations - perhaps we are ready for new levels of technology and discourse... Exciting times...
It does seem unreal, almost comically so. I don't think people should take anything too seriously, we all leave this world with nothing!
