Well logging in to Steemit today I was FORCED to "agree" to two check boxes of terms and conditions.
It was very surprising for me as I have been using Steemit for almost 2 years now and never had to do that before. For me this is a bitter sweet progression. Why?
- The Bitter: Because part of what I and many others love about Steemit or more importantly the blockchain is that it is a free market, a place where we interface based on how we use it without all these lengthy legalize contracts of which of course almost all popular websites on earth require. So it was kinda sad to be like....ok well I have been using Steemit for 2 years, and now in order to CONTINUE using it I HAVE TO (which one of the things I dislike most in life is "HAVE TO"). So of course I don't "have to" do anything. Yet I have 2 years and hundreds of thousands of dollars invested here. Are there alternatives? Yes there are. I wonder how many people will sign and how many will NOT sign and use the alternatives?
- The Sweet: The "positive" in this "have to" is that Steemit is becoming a huge corporation with lots of liability which means that it is growing in power and success. This is ultimately what all big and successful web sites will have to do to protect them selfs from the scammers, lawsuit's and liability worth millions of dollars in a world full of dishonorable people and un just judicial systems. No longer are the days of "your responsible for your own actions and life" now you can sue anybody for almost anything if you really want to.
- Conclusion: Things change, life is constant change, it is what it is and it is bitter sweet. Adaptation is the key to success and continual/perpetual adaptation is the key to continual mega success. We all have the power of choice and can do whatever we want. The question is what do we do with our choice and the results of it.
Just one year ago $teem was worth 10-15 cents and today even though it is "low" is well over $1. Every day you have and use Steem you are compounding a SteemPowered life! If you’re not yet on Steem its not too late. It has only just begun. If you’re already on Steem the moon isn’t even the limit, so there is always higher levels to reach!

I didn't like the wording of the agreement but like you said it is bitter sweet and I'm not surprised they did that at the advisement of a pack of filthy lawyers.

I felt the same when i saw this new requirement. I didn't like the "have to" aspect either but as you said its a bittersweet sort of of progression
