A little adventure to the Past of my Country.

The friend @korghawk asked me how is Venezuela, here I tell you a little.

I will try to take them with my publication to a small town that is located in the center-north region of the country, with a very large history and also very hidden for many.

Aroa is one of those hidden towns that catch you, simple, without great luxuries but of very cordial people, a quiet place where there are many inns for tourists, a hot town like few others, and that same heat is carried by its people.

I visited it in 2015 with my wife, she had a friend there who would work for her and I was in charge of the systems part, she said I need your help and I, as a good traveler, I did not refuse, it was worth it, we spent almost A week in Aroa and between working and touring the town we liked, has some shortcomings like everything but that does not detract anything beautiful, with its simple and quiet people.

I remember when I arrived, I said to myself, ok this is Aroa, to work and to know it a bit, it was certainly a great satisfaction to find the surprise that in that town was where the first telegraph arrived, the first cable car, the first generator of power, and the first railroad in South America, according to the story.

Ask, how can it be? Aroa was well known in colonial times for its famous copper mines, which remain active but do not exploit them, they are the country's heritage, a great surprise to learn that these mines were owned by Simón Bolivar, yes, the same Simon Bolivar who freed a few nations and recognized as the greatest man in America by the BBC.

Listening to this, you just say, I'll see a little more, one of the places that hit me the most was a large park that used to be the so-called English cemetery, which still has many gravestones and even a dungeon, the cemetery is located just After the entrance of the house where Bolivar arrived.

when you enter you breathe another air, it is incredible the peace that you can feel surrounded by so much history, I will leave you some images that are mine, where you can see the landscape of the cemetery today converted into a park where their tombstones can see part of that history, there are English, Irish and American, they will see photos of the lake, and a photo of the old copper warehouse.

All these men and women came to the country to contribute to the development, they left everything behind believing in this great land and today they are reminded in this way, I believe that with the passage of time some were repatriated as they told me, I only imagine the feeling of knowing that some ancestor of yours should be there.

then we took the road to the mines, I remember that being in remodeling there was no step, but in the long stretch we walk the smell of copper and the roar of the river that runs through the mountain hits you, it is very beautiful.

Somehow in this country there are still people committed to history, it is not in all cases but this is worthy of admiration, despite all the crises and problems we can still preserve a part of our past, I believe that anywhere of the world this takes us to our roots, to tell us that with good deeds if we can, that even though the world is convulsed, we still preserve some humanity in our life, which is life without history, without past ?, good question truth.

I hope you like my first job, as well as me this great adventure that I shared with a very special person, the woman I love.

The images are my property, you can know more about Aroa here
