Bidder Beware: @buildawhale @upmyvote @ipromote @badcontent @themarkymark
I did not, do not, and will not consent to any donations towards @themarkymark campaign against spam, I want a refund for services that were denied to me.
There is a movement here on Steemit for a reduction in spam or trash posts. Many feel like posting content that is too small, or does not bring value to the site, is stealing from the reward pool by abusing bid bots, and therefore must be blacklisted. There are multiple fake accounts out there being made, in order to post simple and easy content just to cash in. This could become a problem for the site, but at the same time this campaign can be used to take advantage of innocent people.
Bid bots can be used as a way to advertise your post, buying upvotes for SBD or Steem. It is a mutually beneficial relationship between the bid bot and the bidder, as both parties will possibly receive profit from the transaction; as long as the bids do not outweigh the bots voting power. In this way, people can post one line, one word posts, spend money to upvote them, and the cash out. Obviously this is abuse of the reward system and not the intended use of bid bots.
So the problem comes when these bid bots start enforcing a no refund policy on blacklisted authors. There are various service out there searching and blacklisting authors; the problem being, the author is usually not aware of being blacklisted. An author could possibly send a large amount of SBD or Steem to one of these bots and essentially be refused service, and refused a refund; the bid bot swindling the author. These bit bot owners will then take the money and transfer it to an alternate account, increasing their personal wealth by thousands of SBD.
How do they get away with it, when everything is 100% transparent? They are whales and they eat minnows. It doesn't matter if a minnow is wronged, since no one will see their posts. It doesn't matter if a spammer is conned, because the spammer creates low level content. This is ridiculous and immoral behavior. Stealing is wrong no matter what the intention is behind it.
The blacklist enforcing bid bots do not advertise this fact, their master blacklist is not readily available to view and in fact, they are shown on bid bot tracker for automatically refunding invalid bids. Is a blacklisted authors bid not invalid? Little to no support is given to blacklisted authors, and their bids are usually claimed to be donations. Why would the most profitable bots not refund these bids? It is clearly dishonest and fraud, two qualities that these bid bots claim to be trying to remove from Steemit. Does the ends justify the means? Or does someone stand to profit from these fraudulent policies?
The main questions include: Why do these bots not have programming to refund blacklisted author bids? Campaigning against theft while committing theft is hypocrisy at it's best. If one has no time to be dealing with spam refund requests why are there no warnings in place and no information easily available? Why is the code not refined to deal with refunds for blacklist authors? Is the code designed that way?

There are many people who have been scammed out of their money. Check it out at Discordapp.com inside the buildawhale support channel. I have found at least five other authors who are asking for refunds but do not receive them.

It kind of seems pointless to use Bots if you want this platform to keep growing.
Bot for maintenance, information and telling you about Rewards is ok but when it comes to automatically voting for posts then the whole system becomes pointless.
They say the community supposed to control what is good content and what is bad content.
A bot will like whatever you tell it to like, who is really in control the community or the voting bots.
I agree to an extent, but that is something steemit needs to address. I am not against there being blacklists. It is their bot, they can refuse customers if they want, but stealing is wrong. To the same extent, if an author wants to spend their money to buy votes, then it is their decision, it is their investment in the platform to do with how they want.
That is crazy too Blacklist someone but not tell them but still allow them to keep on buying votes, without knowing that they won't be getting any votes because there on the Blacklist.
Yeah, and there is no master blacklist available, it is just updates to the blacklist, so if you want to find out you have to go through post after post after post.

People need to stop buying from the ones who add you to the blacklist with out notice. The no refund policy is very sketchy with a anonymous Blacklist.

Many people are unaware of these tactics and though I do not use these services, I must admit if that person refuses to refund then it is stealing from client's and that is no way of conducting business. Some think it is an everything goes policy in Steemit, from arrogance to plain rude behavior at those even daring to question their tactics.
My question is would anyone conduct business like this outside of a computer world? I am sure lawsuits would rain.
On a different note, there are plenty of people abusing Steemit in so-called legitimate ways. Making thousands of dollar's and are so-called angels 'legitimatly,' helping the community.

Well in my opinion the whole bot system is abusing the system as well. Not just that some bots are not refunding, but using bots to get more out of the reward system is also stealing from everyone who is working hard without using bots.
I agree that the bot system is not fair, but it is part of steemit for the time being.

And when I get curious enough, I'll ask the BBB, AG and if need be even FBI, for their opinions on it.

I happen to agree with you, but I am still utilizing them, though I personally do no believe that minnows skimming the reward pool by spending their SBD on bots is a bad thing unless the post is obviously not contributing anything for anyone; although people using multiple shell accounts is abuse of the system.

I'm not going to go all conspiracy theory on anyone's ass, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that the planet is run by some shady ass people and basically this has been the case since the beginning of known human history. Pick your empire or regime, its always been shady parasitic fuckbags who run the show.
Now lets ask ourselves "why has this always been the case"?
Well, in Steemit terms: the minnows have always had too low of self esteem to unite, and so this is what created the whales in the first place. Our historically shady rulers have always been because we've insisted that psychopathic morons lord it over us. I mean, pretty straight forward, right?
Well -- I think Steemit and this current situation can act as a microcosm practice for unity. If enough of us unite and turn this situation around and help Steemit become a better place, well: it won't dictate the fate of gods and men, shake empires or part the red sea. But it will set a very important precedent that human unity is possible through cooperating with each other.
And unity that doesn't require people to bow to a king, president, or boss to make it happen. A unity of mutual kindness, mutual compassion and mutual respect.
People such as The Marky Shark are victims of some sort of abuse they've suffered growing up that has turned them into narcissistic control mongering douchebags. Not trying to be an apologist for him, this is merely Psychology 101. Basic entry level textbook case kind of stuff. The "how the victim becomes the justified bully" complex.
Though having compassion for him is useless, we can act compassionately with each other in dealing with this situation, instead of dividing and stooping to his level. I already see this unity happening all on its own. Its a sign of good things to come, in my humble opinion.
I have tried being compassionate with him. It does not really work. I agree, we need to stick together, and just be ourselves, and do what we feel is right inside our hearts.
