Steemit Isn't That Important

Don't get me wrong. Seemit is fun, exciting. It's an adventure. I've made new friends, connected in new ways with some friends I already had, and even reconnected with some old ones. It's also been my most successful foray into social media.

I should probably have said that Steem isn't that important. I see posts made on a regular basis about how you should examine if you are really “worthy” of even being on Steem. If just creating good content is enough? If you should maybe go elsewhere if you aren't a big dog in the yard that's pulling in new Steemians that are likely to invest in buying steem right away.

This is a 100% load of I got mine I don't give a fuck about anyone else BULLSHIT! This is why we have a handful of people in the world right now that own as much wealth as the bottom 50% of the population in the entire world. Here in the United States more than ½ million Americans sleep outdoors any given night. Food insecurity strikes 1 in 5 children here as well. This is suppose to be the wealthiest nation on earth. What the fuck is wrong with us.

I'll tell you what is wrong with us. We've lost our humanity. We've stopped caring about each other and that is just the way those with the most want it. They have us so busy trying to keep what we have that we have no time to care about anyone else. They also convince us that other segments of the population are coming to take what we have when the only ones really trying to squeeze more out of us are the wealthy themselves.

We've grown cold in this world. There is more than enough food to feed everyone yet people starve to death every day. There is more than enough buildings to house everyone yet people go homeless everyday. There is more than enough yet so many do without. Most of whom would be glad to work for there share of the daily bread but are denied the permission to do so. It seems some are now lining up at the gate to be the permission deniers here at Steemit.

Sort:

Yes! People are sick and tired of being afraid all the time. Let's be brave again. Let's get our courage on and stand up for ourselves. We don't need to fit in to be part of something. We have every right to feel like we belong so we can truly be who we are. It is EVERYONE'S birthright to feel that way. It starts on the inside with courage. Just know that it won't be easy.

Well said!

Truly, Greed is awful. On the off chance that riches were shared similarly then greed would have no awful ramifications since it would be awesome for everybody to have and get much a greater amount of what we need.
the point when things, for example, food are not shared similarly and have access to good and some of us have access to healthy food and others do not, at that point our way of life is making others endure when we simply need more for ourselves. We each only need to eat so much, and when the greedy person wants and takes more than he can eat for himself then it is shameful. It is the same with wealth and possessions.

Thanks @randystiefer for this wonderful post and opening our eyes! :)

Glad you liked it, read another post that kind of set me off.

Steemit is an interesting platform, because it does almost act like a mirror of society. There is that element of "the rich get richer" at play on Steemit. Things that are not so savoury about the real world are happening here as well. I don't want to disparage the platform too much though. Like society, it has its benefits and its drawbacks. Time will tell how Steemit adapts or fails to adapt.

It's definitely still a work in progress.

@randystiefer Right on Randy. Good for you, say what needs to be heard. I appreciate you sharing this. Oh yeah, you were right about steemfollower it does work great, when you know to use it.

You're welcome and thank you. :)

true enough, the road to riches doesn't have to be paved with the souls of the fallen!

Unless those souls are challengin g me in ping pong, in which case they do.

Just the same, wherever you start one of my favorite quotes is

"You can't help the poor if you are one of them"

It's not about staying poor so other can have more, it's about growing together. Some at the top, drather stand on everyone else's neck so they can live in excess. There is a lot of difference in those two.

@randystiefer Hey Randy, I just posted a little share that you might get a kick out of. If you get a chance.
