Is Steemit no longer accepting new sign-ups?

I have invited several of my friends last week to join Steemit.

Unfortunately, all of them haven't received any reply yet from Steemit.

I was so excited to inform them about Steemit and now I felt I am to be blame.

Are there any updates on the sign-up procedure?
