This is the problem with banks, they continue to exercise their power beyond that of what they are required legally. It is very convenient for them hide behind government mandates but the reality is they are acting in the interests of themselves.

Indeed they are, the last time I was in the UK 5 years ago, I wanted to withdraw £4,000 of my own money to take a trip abroad, they told me I had to order the money, and come back in 3 days time to collect it, they also wanted me to fill in a form to say what I was going to do with my own money, I refused and went to a different branch and withdrew the money over the counter, they make the rules up as they see fit at times, and like I said to my bank manager, it is my money, not yours.
