First I am an occasional blogger, so I have to post somewhere.
I've never been happy with any centralized blog site I've posted to. Or my own blog site.
I have diverse interests - I post about multiple things - this often doesn't work out too well on centralized blog sites.
I'm a fan of Bitcoin and related technologies. My expectation in time is that the blockchain operations will slowly usurp and replace much of the web as it now is. Logic suggests this, but my logic may be wrong. Only way to find out is to get involved.
I really really like the Steemit idea of rewarding all contributors to it. I don't expect to get rich - that's not the point. I'd just rather not be exploited. I see Steemit as being less likely to exploit writers and readers. My guess is that I'll encounter others vaguely like me on Steemit.
Here's what I think is going to happen with blockchain technology (in time).
- Bitcoin will become a major currency and take a big bite out of the banking industry.
- If the Steemit team make good design choices they usurp Reddit.
- If the Openbazaar team make good design choices they usurp eBay
- If the Lightning Network (for Bitcoin) functions well (when it is launched) it will replace web advertising with micro-payments
- A blockchain startup will, at some point usurp Twitter and Facebook.
- E eventually democratic voting will happen by blockchain and thus it will prevent voting frauds.
In general, this feels to me like the rebirth of the web. I think o fit as "the web with trust." Ultimately I think that's what the blockchain offers, and can ensure, trust. Maybe I'm hopelessly optimistic, but it needs to be tried. That's all.
Welcome to the steem, hope you stay long here :)
I intend to. I'll give it several months at the very least. I'm attracted by the whole idea.
