Hi there!
So you're new on Steemit, or you've been here for a couple of weeks already and can't seem to get a lot of followers. Of course you want a wider audience to see your amazing content being published and read it. Your knowledge should reach worldwide because you have something to tell or to show! Well, I will give you a few tips on how to get more followers!
1. Quality Content
This should be a no brainer. Your content should reflect your knowledge and what you want to share. Interest people with good and fun facts. Keep it serious and fun at the same time. When your content is well written and easy to read people will start following you. Throw in some images to 'break' the text so it is easier to read.
2. Do not follow for follow
Of course when you start out you want to have followers so you try anything to get those. I don't blame you, as should no one :). But those followers aren't in quality but in quantity. They will not read your content very well and in the upcoming weeks they won't check it at all, thus you won't get upvotes from them and they wont resteem your content. Focus on having good followers that really like your content.
3. Get to know your audience
Focus on talking to people. A good way is the steemit chat.(https://steemit.chat). You can see people post their content here and direct message people. Don't be shy to direct message people and talk with them. Get to know each other and what interests them. You will start following each other and read each others content. This is a great way to start and get amazing followers! In the meantime you can promote your posts on this platform.
Furthermore try other social media activitys like post it on twitter, join facebook groups and such!
4. Comment, comment, comment!
When you follow people, read their posts and comment on it. Don't just say 'great post!' but really read it and think about your comment. Write something that is useful and that let's people think. Perhaps end with a question and start a discussion! When you start discussions people will start to get to know you and if your answers are well thought of, people will follow you!
5. Start a project
Start a project that involves other steemians. Read up and what people want and need and start doing it. It might cost you some time but in the end it will pay out! In satisfaction, in followers and perhaps also a payout ;)
Those are my tips for now! Do you have any awesome tips? Share them in the comments below!
Upped & resteemed. A good effort.
I am preparing a similar post as I approach 1000 followers.
There are many tricks to learn :)

Thank you, thank you for that article! In the beginning, we all know that advice but at some point, we want to grow fast and stop following them! For me, it was more like a reminder! :)
Best,

Indeed a very nice post.
Haha nice :D
Some good tips! Methods of quite a few Steemians to get followers and votes are getting too aggressive. Hope this post helps a bit.
Great read. These are definitely some good tips for people who are new to steem and new to social media sites in general. The follow for follow thing doesn't work that well. Great content is what's banging!
Amen to that! Content is king here!
Good points
Really good points!
Thanks mate :D

I'd rather have ten genuine people who really comment than 100 who just want to get their numbers up
Really good tips. Spot on advice.
Good tips. This is a basic starting point for what I'd suggest. It's fine to mention that you started following someone's blog, but don't do it to try to get them to follow you back! Do it because they produced good content that you enjoyed :)
actually bro, those are the things I always keeping in my mind.. nice post bro... you have my upvote and your worthy to follow
Great point of veiw. I can't wait til I get a good following. I've been on here a week nd a half and I'm loving the potential

You need to watch you voting.
Your power is low.
love the Office Space meme @rkrijgsman!
"Great post!" (I mean it, though. lol)
Question: If you want to build a "quality" audience, does it help to write about different topics or is it better to just stick to ONE?
Haha thanks! It does help if you stick with One or two topics. That way you get followers that really like your content and upvote more. If you write all over the place you get followers that might like one post but not the other. So get to know what you like to write about and promote it!
Thanks for the advice!
Thanks upvoted
