RE: [SECURITY HOW-TO] How anyone can avoid losing access to their Steemit Account with LastPass and Duo

in #steemit9 years ago

I'm glad security researchers like Taviso is looking at LastPass... it'll only improve my confidence in using it. Also, if you use your password manager with 2FA, you'll increase the difficulty of successfully attacking a Steemit account by an order of magnitude.

For some, that is worth the convenience and peace of mind that they won't forget their complex passwords.

2FA is definitely helpful on any platform. I use it on most when available. I still won't use a password manager. And I understand people will for convenience. Just something to think about! :)

That's not a terrible trade off. Everyone should think about their own risk profile and how they'd like to balance usability vs. security. Personally I'd rather have the convenience of the password manager, plus the additional security of not re-using my passwords.
