How Steemit can rule the internet?

in #steemit7 years ago

Steemit hasn't been out for too long yet and there are already debates on whether it is the next big thing or a hoax or just a fad which will eventually fade away.
I for one believe that Steemit is here to stay and to revolutionize the way we stream content on the internet whether it is text, audio or video.

Although comparing it to Facebook just yet or even comparing Dtube with Youtube may be a bit overboard, especially because both are big and very established companies with more than a decade of market dominance(not just existence). Regardless, these comparison's are far from being ludicrous.

However, there are quite a lot of things that Steemit can start doing and hope to achieve complete dominance in under a couple of years. The list goes as follows:

Steemit can start a question and answer website just like Quora. Today Quora is a company valued at 900 million$.
Quora is a website which allows users to ask, see and/or answer any question they like. All users have their own profile which is linked to their Facebook accounts ensuring no fake activity on the site. Then people ask various questions on the site ranging from something as personal as relationship advice or something professional as well such as career advice or business advice. Currently, people are happy to answer questions because they want to create a profile and thereby an image on the site which translates to their offline image and thereby helps them advertise their business or any other endeavours.
Steemit can not only provide users with all the accolades that they hope to get from Quora but also can award Steem dollars to the people with highest upvotes on a particular question or just reward them for the total number of upvotes they eventually go on to get.

Online tutorials are on the rise today with websites like Udemy, Udacity and dozens of others attracting audiences willing to learn from the comfort of their beds and knowledge bearers willing to share the lessons of their crafts. The teachers who are famously referred as online tutors in exchange for a course take a fee from anywhere between 0.99$ to 99$ or even more.
This is where a slight problem lies. Although there are hundreds of people willing to pay for the courses and take them in numbers, there are thousands of them who are still sceptical of the online courses and are unwilling to pay.
Here is where Steemit can intervene, instead of people having to pay for the courses, the courses can be free. And as far as the tutors are concerned, they could get paid in Steem dollars for every person who joins their course or completes their course leaving a good review behind.

Although, this might seem the same as above but the core concept of it is slightly different. Many freelance websites such as Freelancer, Upwork etc. already do exist. The way these sites work are that people offer their services on the site in various streams from Digital Marketing to Content writing etc. Furthermore, people wanting some work to be done offer money in exchange for their services. All of this happens in USD or whichever currency both the parties are familiar with. Instead of USD, Steem dollars can and may be used as the currency to operate in and people can be made to pay or receive payments in Steem dollars only. This will give people more confidence in operating on the site(as real dollars are not at stake) and it will also make people well versed with Steemit dollars. Initially, steem dollars can be paid to top freelancers whenever they complete a project, thereby attracting the best talent from all the websites onto your site.

In all of the above ideas, the focus is to bring most of the market audience on board and once they are well acquainted with it and the rest of the competition in similar markets has faded, multiple revenue streams can be generated through advertisements to brand endorsements to whatever the company deems legitimate.

Please let me know which of these ideas seem good or bad and comment out any other stream where Steemit can compete and one day exert complete market dominance.

Some wonderful ideas.

I, too, am bullish on Steemit. This is going to be enormous. Like you, I dont like the comparisons to Facebook. My distaste for that isnt because of the size but because this place is more like Reddit than FB. Reddit has roughly 250M users so if Steemit can get that big, it will be a huge force (the place has 350K users give or take). What would even a 10 fold increase do to this place...and it would still make it about 1/8 the size of Reddit.

The upside is huge.
