I was fortunate enough early on to get a few dolphins/whales to up-vote a couple posts of mine. I saw success early and status increase quickly. Lately I have actually seen a decrease in up-votes and steem payout but not a decrease in created content or quality. I think a lot of it has to do with luck. I agree, a good following and interaction is important, but I think most of the good payouts are strictly based on luck. Good advice though to continue creating content and being active on the site. I love social media so the payouts on Steemit are just an added bonus to me and not really the incentive.
