Warning - high quality post ahead - a few tips

For new Steemians it is difficult to see that a number of people on Steemit.com get very high payouts for 1 post while they have also put quite some time in a good post too.

Whales, Orca’s…..Minnows

The so-called "established names" are often users of the first moment, called Orca’s or if they are at the very top, called Whales. They are often "grown up" with each other on this platform and therefore vote on each other's blog. These people have gone through the so-called “grind” for a very long time. Now as a new citizen of Steemit you are called a Minnow and have to grind yourself a way to to the top. In other words, you have to post nice blogs with informative content to eventually get in the picture of the Whales.

As a result of the long grind whales have gone through, they have become increasingly powerful and vote on each other's blog with a lot of money.

For novice Steemians this is difficult to see. They have made a post and have just earned no dollar within 1 hour, while another has typed 6 sentences and has already earned over 100 dollars with 1 post within 30 seconds. This might demotivate you. But I think if you were about to stop, well…that would not be beneficial to you either would it?

Also, just as in real life, sometimes it is not exactly about good content but more about the people who you know. In other words, If you know people with high voting power and they like you, or your blue eyes or it is just being the moon standing at the right angle in relation to the sun and the stars, that will be enough to receive a vote for a post. Also there is something as voting bots. When Whales have you on their bot, they really don’t always read your content. The bot simply just votes every time when you submitted your blog.

Tips:

Here are a few tips to keep fun in placing good content and finally to have a good feeling about it.

First of all, keep posting your blogs. Eventually this is hopefully appreciated with a nice upvote.

You also use relevant tags to assign to your blog. If you place something about food, use the 'food' tag. Also use all the tags that you can use every time. These are 5 tags per blog.

Respond to comments from others and to blogs from others.

And, perhaps the most important tip,

appreciate the interaction that this platform gives. Do not always just look at the money. Although that might be the only reason for you to be on Steemit. The established social media you used to use never gave you a penny.

Some other ways of posting

Instead of posting on Steemit.com you can also post images, videos, blogs in a variety of other ways to the same STEEM Blockchain.

For example via:

For movie footage use #dtube: https://d.tube/
For Instagram like posting use: https://alpha.steepshot.io/feed
For Steemit like posting with a neat interface use #busy: https://busy.org/
For posting soundbites and music use: https://dsound.audio/#/feed
