Feedback, improvement suggestions on Steemit

in #steemit7 years ago

So far, I've enjoyed Steemit as a platform and as a concept, but there are still things that I'd like to see added.

  • An option to add a separate image as a thumbnail instead of it just picking up the first picture from the post.
    • This is pretty much just an aesthetic preference. It a minor thing but personally, surprisingly annoying. Adding this would give us just a little bit more freedom in how we construct and present our posts.

  • The possibility to categorize the people we follow.
    • As there are people that are focused on posting about specific categories and things, it would be nice to be able to categorize them. One good example of this is Twitter lists and TweetDeck that you can use to separate accounts into different tabs.

  • Pinning 1 or more (own) posts in our profile front page.
    • This would allow us to use our post(s) as an introduction to our channels, or just give visibility to posts that we want people to see at the current time. Twitter and YouTube also use this kind of feature.

  • Search function for our own posts (comments and replies also?).
    • As a person who doesn't have many posts yet, this isn't really an issue. I can still imagine that as time goes by and you would like to find a certain post of yours, it would get really awkward.
    • A post calendar would also be a pretty useful tool that would make finding our posts much easier.

  • Adding other people's post to favorites and/or custom lists.
    • From time to time there are posts that you would like save for later use. Maybe you've found a post with useful information that you need/want to re-read, share, or use as a reference sometime later in the future.

I don't know if it's that these things are not high on the priority list, or if it's a deliberate decision to incentivize people to post more often. Maybe we can get an official statement for that.

If you have more suggestions on things that you'd like to see improven or implemented on the site, let us know in the comment section. I'm thinking about maybe making a collection on people's suggestions that would be discussed and updated regularly. Not sure what the best method for that would be yet, (maybe just a regular post?) but we'll see what I and possibly other people might come up with.

Cheers~~
