your first post on Steemit.com
The first thing you need to do as a newbie is to write an "introduceyourself" post. There is nothing complex about this, just talk about yourself, your hobbies, your educational qualifications (optional) your marital status (optional). Just simply tell us about yourself. Be interesting.
The most important part of this "introduceyourself" post, is the tagging. Your first tag should be "introduceyourself" without the quotation marks of course.
example
some rules you should be aware of
- avoid plagiarism:
don't copy a part or all of someone else's work. Even if you know how to quote, try not to copy. I've had several experiences with error in quoting. Not adding the quote symbol (>) correctly.
- Don't spam:
Sometimes we get the tendency to send the same exact comment to several people. This is not allowed. You could end up being flagged.
flagging?
Flagging is when the small flag as seen the picture above is clicked. This happens when you commit plagiarism.
Sometimes new steemians gets the inclining to search for those post with huge payout, so that they can copy and post. This could lead to flagging. Try and be original.
EFFECT OF FLAGGING
Flagging reduces your reputation and sometimes your payout. The effect of flagging on a post depends on who flagged it. A newbies flagging does not have much effect like that of a whale.
Flagging will slow your growth and also decrease your payout and reputation
the number in bracket beside your username
When I first joined steemit.com I was like "" when did I add (25) to my username? " lol.
That number beside your name is your reputation (level). The higher your number, the higher your reputation. This number is also drops when you get flagged.
HOW TO GROW YOUR REPUTATION
Be original
Avoid plagiarism
Avoid spamming
Aim to is to post 1 to 4 quality post daily
Comment more frequently on other people's post without spamming
Try to reply comments on your post.
Don't be in a hurry to post your, choose your title properly and tag correctly.
Use pictures that are related to your post and reference the source.
Don't be in a hurry, you're not in a competition with anybody. your friend is making $50 on a single post doesn't mean you'll make the same. Don't feel bad if you earn lower than your friends.
Learn to say "thank you" when you're corrected.
some popular questions newbies ask on Steemit
- what's the worth of 1 upvote (like)
The worth of one upvote depends on the steem Power of that person upvoting you and the percentage at which that person upvoted with.
To know your steem Power , just click wallet on your account
random example
If you want to know how many steem Power can can make an upvote worth $1, simply click here to use a tool designed by @penguinpablo
simply fill in your current steem Power and click calculate. You can adjust it to check how many steem Power would give $1
CONCLUSION
Steemit is not a get rich scheme, your reward on your post is based on the value of your post to those reading it.
No one owes you any upvote, so don't get mad when you don't get upvote, this happens sometimes when those who would have upvoted you are not around or online to upvote you.
be consistent and create relationship with other steemians, dont beg for upvote,be creative and upvote will come.
Cool blog, Thank you
Thank you for taking out time to go through my blog @beekeyyy
@samstickkz great post, i have been following a lot of your posts recently. They are just not original alone, but also really interesting reads...
This one in particular i like a lot, and have even shared the link (off steemit) for new steemians i introduce, to hit the steemit platform running.
If you do have some extra time on your hand, do read this interesting story of mine:

Part 2 - The battle for supremacy

Akamba owo, amenam tutu... Ka iso!
Thanks
you are real dear. keep it up. i have a question pls do i have access to choose how many percentage upvote i will spend per vote?
The worse thing you can do as a newbie, and @samstickkz take this into account to, is to reduce your VP, right now your VP isnt worth anything, reducing it means you are dropping $0 dollars on a persons post.
At best its sad and not fair, at worst its an insult.
I see red fishes dropping 1% vote on my works,.
Do this calculation yourself, 1% of 0.03 is what?
Yes thanks for the advice, I appreciate, I'd rather not upvote than upvoting to give $0.00
yes i know. i just want to know if there is option for that. if there is kindly tell me i want to learn
Yes you can only when you have up to 500 STEEM POWER. once you get u to 500 SP you'll this
, or you can use steemvoter to adjust
o.k. i just learn this now as a new bee. i will keep learning things about steemit
That's the spirit sir. Keep learning. Some tips
Well, well, well, @samstickkz, long time, good to see you going well. @davidthelad, greetings as well, @gossipmill same thing that David said.
If not for the fact that I'm a Nigerian curator, I would be dropping 100% on all the people I upvote.
Remember, originality, consistency, networking is key.
Yes oh, steemit for life. Encouraging ORIGINALITY
