RE: Check Before You Upvote!

in #steemit8 years ago

Copy-paste spam will always be an issue. I just ignore it.
I got nothing against posting articles to point out something, but add your commentary or something so you actually have some content.
And if you like gaming, see if you like my posts :) Hope you don't mind my shilling, just though you'd be interested. If you wish I can edit this out after your reply.

No problem, I like gaming and will check out your posts. But just ignoring the issue will not make it go away and chances are that it will continue to grow hurting us all in the long run.

No it won't make it go away, but neither is flagging everyone down. That just opens the door to censorship. But people will find a way to game anything, or leave when it's not worth it. We have bots to point us to in their direction, and your points on checking and not voting on bad behaviour should help as they'll be discouraged for not earning much, in anything. I just don't think the're is a solution to solve the problem; at least not one to solve it completely, or without resorting to measures that will do more harm than good.

Good point, especially about flagging. I was just reading about a flag war that is currently happening (very interesting stuff). Flags are used for censoring instead of downvoting because of the content of the post. Things seem to escalate very quickly when flags are used.

Exactly, and for me, the whole point of joining this platform is to get away from that. All ideas should be able to be spoken about. If they're dumb ideas they'll naturally fall to the wayside in a democratic platform. So let them speak whatever... if it's utter bs, ignore it and that's that :)
