Steemit Tips: How To Get Followers - Comment, Find New Users, Be Authentic - WITH TESTIMONIALS!

in #steemit7 years ago

Hey, everyone.

Want to get followers on Steemit? Of course you do!

Well, I'm about to go over some tried and true methods for gaining a following on Steemit, along with some "Steemit Celebrity" testimonials.

Steemit has been getting a massive influx of new users over the past few months. It's Alexa ranking has been trending up hard after a long dry-spell:

With all of the new users coming to Steemit with big hopes and dreams, I figured it was a good time to revisit some of the best advice I've ever given for new users along with some testimonials from seasoned veterans.

So, without further ado, this is How to gain followers and be popular!

1. Comment.

That's right: the FIRST thing you should do is leave comments, not posts -- COMMENTS!

Comment often, and comment authentically.

Here is my 6 Step Method for how to leave affective comments that will attract attention and gain you followers:

  1. Go to the "hot" tab.

  2. Find a post that ACTUALLY INTERESTS YOU.

  3. READ IT

  4. Upvote it

  5. Leave a relevant comment.

I'm not even kidding.

Do that and you will gain followers like you wouldn't believe.

Don't even bother making blog posts for your first week -- just upvote and comment.

Try to make your comments as beneficial, edifying, helpful, and optimistic as possible, and you will find your follower numbers growing like crazy.

When you have a good and authentic following, you'll find that all of your posts get a good number of upvotes, and you'll earn a pretty nice income per post compared to if you post 10 times a day and pray that one of them trends.

Also...

Troll the #introduceyourself tag

New people are looking for friends.

At least they should be.

them), and your follower numbers will shoot to the moon.So check out all of the #introduceyourself or #introduction posts. Find new people. Find their introduction post and leave a comment that shows that you actually read it (aka: say something about

You'll also gain a lot of interesting friends.

DO NOT FOLLOW-BEG

Don't beg for people to follow you in the comments.

I don't know if I can emphasize this point enough. It's a really, really, REALLY bad idea.

The best you'll get is a following of people who are only interested in their own follow numbers and won't even see or upvote your posts; the worst you'll get is flagged for spam and/or muted by whales who would otherwise help you out.

So DO NOT post anything that looks even remotely like this:

Wow! Great post. I followed you, follow me back.

DO NOT DO THAT.

I repeat: DO NOT DO IT!!!

It shows that you didn't read the post you're replying to. It shows that you're not interested in building authentic relationships. It shows that you're trying to abuse the system for your own selfish benefit.

If you care about Steemit, Steemit will care about you

It's as simple as that.

If you post on this platform like a human being, and treat others like human beings, you will be rewarded.

You will become popular.

You will get upvoted and resteemed.

All your dreams will come true.

#introduceyourself

The “introduceyourself” tag is for creating a post that tells us about you. Users are encouraged to use this tag exclusively for that, and not to reuse it.

I recommend a commitment to yourself to write a well thought out post at least once a week as well.
Give your followers something to look forward to by offering quality content!
When you write a post, make it matter, at least to you.
I think of the Steemit blockchain as a living history of me, so that children in the future can look back on the blog as an insight into what I did to amuse myself and others at this stage in my life...

I'm doing an entire month of blog posts featuring the designer men's shoes in my closet.
Luckily January has 31 days (I have a bit of a shoe 'problem' 😀).
It's silly, it's fun, and it's educational.
Men can rock some beautiful footwear, and I show you how!

Long time follower of yours,
Excellent advice @shayne! Right now @future24 challenged Steemians to the monthlyauthorchallenge, where you promise to post once a day for the full month of January. Fantastic advice @shayne, looking forward to more of your blog brother! @scan0017 🤜🤛

I still recommend blogging some good posts (especially an introduceyourself) and comment also. Do both. Don't just comment without also having worthwhile blogging content or people won't have a reason to follow your blog. Great advice though. Certainly helpful.

Yh, that's true...

Yes, a good introduction post is very helpful, and also resteeming some good posts can help to populate your blog so the people following you have an idea of what you're all about.

Agreed, don't sell Apple Juice if the Juice lacks Apples, Jack.
Yours truly, Oatmeal, from a not Apple laptop.

Great tips, but it doesn't work for Africans, i feel there is racism in steemit

Do you have evidence of this or is it just your feelings?

Thanks! I am new to steemit and this was very good advice!

Yeah,, very essential news is.i think your posts are blessed for our Steemians. . This type of post really needs us. . Thank You so much dear @shayne

Well, haha, I wish I read something like this two months ago. I think I may have gotten things a little out of order. It is all getting straightened up, and I am having a great time straightening it. Now, when ever I recommend Steemit to someone I follow with "here, read this persons post for newbies!" Thank you. Great perspective!

thank you for that advice. its really helpfull and I will think on it ;)

Very good tips. i’m going to resteem this, because this the kind of educational posts that a lot of people need.
Sometimes I get so irritated by those shallow comments... I posted a second introductory post a couple of days ago which received exactly 7 comments. Every single comment proves that the writers didn’t even bother to read my post. It’s really nexessary too educate people on that topic.
It’s funny and sad at the same time that you got a comment on this post that was exactly like the examples you gave on what not to do.

Leaving insightful, quality comments isn’t always as easy, but I think you ode it to yourself to at least give it a try :-)
It never occured to me that I could use the ‘mute’ feature to block those comments. From now on, I can save myself from a lot of irritation by muting all those stupid comments.
And yet another thing learned today :-D
Thanks for that!

Love South Park for sure. Good advice. Some people are still going to do whatever they do on Facebook here. The add me thing is like a bad habit people have. And I see it all over. And those people may not even read this. Be a real person or be Oatmeal like me.

That's true, thanks for your advice, for the new users, this can be considered as something of gold

This is good advice. I did a lot of reading and commenting the first two weeks I was on Steemit. That experience helped me write a good #introduceyourself post, which was well received.

Thanks for the advices!

And I also think what your are saying is true. I usually try to make a lot of comments daily and I have gained some good followers. BUT having good post is also important otherwise your blog will be empty and people visiting you will just leave and forget.

I believe people should start posting since the beginning so that the blog,is not empty, but focus more on comments of course.
