Speaking from experience on other social media networks the most effective way to gain followers is to follow others. This in turn leads to an increase in engagement on posts.
I set out to see if this holds true on Steemit.
My first step was to bulk follow a large number of users. I have thus followed 3000 fellow Steemites(?) (Somebody please comment the correct name for members of the Steemit community if this is incorrect)
This wave of follows has proven to be successful in growing my follower count (although not as effective as on other sites).
So far it has resulted in a spike of about 90 new followers.
My next question, however, is if this spike in followers will translate to any increase in engagement. This post is a test post to see whether or not it had any impact.
As such, & THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART!, if you found this post as a result of following me and not through regular browsing please comment below letting me/us know.
This will be helpful to the entire Steemit community in gauging the effectiveness of growing a larger follower count.
Cheers.
For the record it appears spam following is fairly useless on Steemit, due to a low follow back rate & a lower engagment rate of followers.
