I have been on STEEMIT for around 2 weeks now, with moderate success :-(
When I say moderate success, I mean in terms of votes and consequently earnings.
I have (just like you probably have) searched the internet for how to make your posts more popular. Pretty much every answer has been the same "Write about something you feel and care about!"
Right...
Unfortunately I feel and care for the fastest racquet sport in the world, a sport. where a smash can reach speeds of 332 kph - a record set in Beijing during the 2005 Surdiman Cup.
The reason I say unfortunately is because I don't see the sport getting particular popular on STEEMIT... But I don't care :-)
I talk about badminton!
Ever heard of it? Thought it was something just played casually at garden parties?
You were wrong! Badminton is played on a VERY competitive level in most parts of the world and especially in Asia.
When you talk about competitive badminton, you kinda have to break it down to at least 2 different eras, pre 1980 and post 1980.
In the early 80's we started to see more tournaments all over the world and we started to finally see the Chinese travel abroad to compete. However, the problem was that prize money wasn't all that good, leaving only a handful of players being able to make a comfortable living out of the sport to, which they have devoted the entire life.
This has gradually changed, especially with the rise of China as an economic super power. Today the top players are earning millions and millions of US dollars. (I will get more into that, when I do profiles for each player)
I will not get into specifics in this post, but rather save it for, when I do player profiles, tournament reviews and match commentary.
My own interest in badminton started, when I was 10 years old (back then we played with wooden racquets :)
I have pretty much been a hardcore badminton addict ever since, with a slight break in my late teens to early 20's.
Heck, I even sometimes put myself to sleep just to the COMMENTARY of a high profile game!
Oh no! Not because it's boring!
I simply turn on the laptop, search for my favorite match, adjust the volume to reflect that I am about to sleep, roll over and close my eyes. In the background I can her the commentary and in my head it's me playing for the 20000 crowd :D
Besides the competitive aspect, badminton is GREAT exercise for people of all ages. You pretty much use every muscle in your body.
I will leave this post at this, but I can assure you - there are MUCH more to come. I will take you through the up's and downs of some of the greatest athletes in the world, you will see them cry, you will see them fight, you will see them win.
