Hey all. I am new here and have been reading a lot. One thing that confuses me and many others that I am seeing is Steempower.
Specifically, what does having 1,000 or 10,000 or 100,000 actually do for you as a newbie? Is it worth it for a minnow to buy a few hundred Steempower when starting here? Why or why not?
If I have more Steempower, do I get more rewards from being upvoted on my blogposts and or comments? I see that people who have hundreds of thousands of Steempower upvote people and those people get maybe a dollar or two reward, what is this formula or calculation? If I have 100,000 Steem and upvote a brand new person, how much reward do they get?
I am a former Youtuber and want to better understand the analytics at play, it is very confusing for me to know what I should be doing to maximize my potential. Appreciate any feedback and help!!!
Steem Power is basically your voting power.
It's kind of when you upvoted a post, a certain amount of rewards is added to that post.
If you have high power the bigger will be the rewards added will be.
Something like that, can't properly explain it myself, but that's my observation and what I understood from all that I've read here.
You can absolutely buy some steem power when starting if you want by buying some steem and then powering up. I bought about $100 worth with some bit coin I had laying around. Also, it's good for a while for your posts to be in 100% steem power so all your earning go to steem power. It's still as good as cash but think of it as investing in yourself when you first start here. BEST WISHES! This video might help!
He's right... your amount of Steem Power governs the power of your votes. Steem is what you can trade (sell). If you want to convert steem to Steem power you can power up. That increases your voting power. That's what I did. It depends on your strategy. I take a long term view. I'm looking to stay in for a long time so I want voting power. If you're looking to cash out soon (bad idea seeing how steem value keeps going up) you need to stay liquid. Hope that helps some. Also, to convert SP back to steem (powering down) it takes a long time.
