Now, if I understand correctly, now would be a smart time to transfer sbd to upvote yourself

in #steemit7 years ago

So when you look at the average price of steem on steemit here https://www.steemnow.com/ if you click on the price on the top right it will drop a 3.5 day graph, this average price is what makes your rewards fluctuate. What I am seeing now is a lot of $1.60 and lower prices will move out of the 3.5 day range and more $2.15 will enter this range for the new average price...the way it looks if you use a voting bot in the new few hours your rewards should go up by around 20% if the price of steem holds on or goes higher in the next 7 days...

Can someone more knowledgeable either confirm what I am thinking or deny it providing some added insight? I feel it is something important to understand moving forward...I will be using some SBD to vote up this post for 2 reasons:

1) to allow more people to see this post and possibly learn a thing or two

2) to risk my own steem to test out this idea that I have presented today

Good luck to all steemians...we are in this together lets make this platform amazing and together rise up and hopefully achieve financial freedom.

I don’t think now is a good time to convert SBD into Steem. The ratio has been steadily falling for months and we are not far off 1:1 at present.

Hey @ssjasha, you're 100% right. The steem price feed is a direct influence to the value of an upvote. If you buy an upvote at an upvote value of $1, for example, then you pay for a $1 upvote. If the price feed moves up during the lifetime of your post, then you'll notice the upvote value on the post will move above $1 even though you only paid for a $1 upvote originally. Don't forget though that the price feed can just as easily curve downwards and cause your purchased upvote to be worth far less than what you paid for. Hope that helps!

Also it is important to add that with such big upvotes there will be a large portion of the reward going towards curators...The way the price is looking I have a feeling I will be losing out when the curators get their big cut but oh well that is the cost of spreading some awareness

Yes, they will be earning more curation rewards, but it's all relative. Their portion of the earnings go up, but I believe the % of the reward would stay the same. For example, if the upvote was worth $10 and the curation reward was $2.5 and then the upvote goes up to $20, the curation reward would then be worth $5, but your cut of those earnings would then also be worth $15

Yes, let's make this platform amazing. I am with you.

Yes it gives more rewards if price holds up or increases.
But if it doesn't then our rewards are lower.

I'm new here so i don't think i completely understand that works. How do you transfer when you don't have. Does it not sound like a loss?? Please make me understand.

I think this is correct. Resteemed and voted for visibility.
