Question:

Its hard to find a job and I have run out of money I'm working hard on steemit but not making enough to live. What can I do to make more money on Steemit?

Answer:

Firstly, thank you for making use of this service.

In regards to your question, I would have to advise that you don't rely on Steemit as an income source if you are in desperate need for money at present. Whilst Steemit is an amazing platform with unimaginable potential, it is still in its very early days of development, and I feel it would be very bad advice to tell you to invest all of your time into the site, as there is a chance that your work will go unrewarded.

There are a number of things that you might be able to do in order to make some money off-Steemit, depending on your location.

  • Sell Anything You Do Not Need:
If you have anything lying around the house that you rarely make use of, or don't expect to make use of before you find your feet financially again, then consider using websites like ebay to sell them at a worthy price. Times will not always be so difficult, so you will likely be able to buy them back at a later date. Do not sell something that is necessary to maintain your well-being, or accept less than an optimum price for any of your items.

  • Find Out If You Are Eligible For Any Government Assistance:
If you haven't already, check online or contact someone that can help you find out whether you are entitled to any financial aid from your government. In most cases, impoverishment can be attributed to the government, so you should not feel ashamed to ask for help- it is owed to you.

  • Ask Friends and Family For Help:
Should you have anyone in your life that may be able to help you in this time of need, don't be afraid to ask. It can be a blow to your pride to have to ask another for help, but you must decide what is more important- your pride, or your survival? You are not alone in your struggles, friend. There are millions upon millions of people who are currently in a similar position to you, having to make use of food-banks to feed themselves and their families. For this reason, others may be a lot more sympathetic to your position than you realise. It is certainly worth asking if someone is in the position to help you.

  • Utilise More Abstract Methods Of Gaining Employment:
If you're serious about finding work, double your efforts. Don't simply apply for jobs that you see to be available, proactively head into your nearest town/city and start handing out your CV/resume to places of businesses. Some respect this approach as it shows your dedication to work as well as your confidence. You could also join recruitment agencies, find more websites to use in search of a job, or ask friends and family if they know anyone who might be able to offer you a position.

  • Offer Your Skills In Return For Payment:
Do you have a particular skill that you are very good at? Perhaps you are good at drawing, or making hand crafted items? It could really be anything. Make a post on craigslist and similar sites offering your services for a small fee. Register with a lot more than one site however, so as to increase the visibility and in turn the number of requests you receive. Fiverr is another site you can make use of for such endeavors.

  • Ask For Help From The World:
I would consider this a last resort if you find yourself having no other option to pay bills, etc. Having exhausted every other suggestion and found no joy, consider crowdsourcing some funds to help you get back on your feet. There are a number of sites that allow you to make a plea to the masses, and in many cases I have witnessed others doing so on Steemit to great effect. People love to help other people when they are certain help is needed, and as I stated previously, there are a lot of others in your position meaning that others will understand your plight. If it comes to it, you will have to ask others for help and you may be very surprised with the results.

In the mean time, try and cut your expenses as much as possible. Use food banks or eat at friend's/relative's if possible to save money on nutrition. Make sure not to be wasteful in terms of electricity and gas in your home, so as to minimize any bills. If you have to travel somewhere, consider whether it is really necessary to drive there and use gas/petrol, ride the bus/train there at a cost, or whether you can save more money by leaving earlier and walking the distance.

One last thing I would suggest, though I know you did not ask this, is that you find a way to keep your stress levels as low as can be. The burden of financial difficulties can weigh heavy on the mind, which in turn has negative effects on the body and can lead to poor health. I suggest taking the time out to spend time with others who can brighten your mood and distract you from your current troubles. Perhaps also look into meditation and other methods of lowering cortisol levels in your system. If you can get your mind to a good place, then you will have the energy and enthusiasm you require to achieve what you want. If you let yourself become overwhelmed with stress and anxiety, you may lose motivation and find yourself in somewhat of a rut. Do not allow this to happen.

Returning to your actual question, how can you make more money on Steemit? For now, it's too risky thinking of it as a regular paycheck. I believe that in future it will be able to do that for you, but not today. My last piece of advice would be that you continue to post on the site regardless of whether you find work elsewhere. Retain your followers and garner more. The time may eventually come when Steemit has millions more users and the price is considerably higher than today. At that point, not only will the work you have put in pay off when your account value skyrockets, but you will also be in a place where you can leave any current job and devote your time to Steemit, knowing that you are going to rewarded for your efforts.

I hope this was helpful, and thanks again for making use of @steemadvice. Feel free to do so again at any time if you found this to be useful.
