[STEEMIT FORMULA] Mechanisms of the Most Popular Posts

in #steemit8 years ago

Being a linguist I have always tried to find some speech patterns that unite the most successful works. Steemit has become a great place to investigate into the matter and learn more about what interests people most. Here are some of the results.

1. Heading

The heading is the first thing that catches eye of a fast and hurrying reader chasing for something worth their attention. But there is something before the heading that draws still more attention and that is the picture to the left. Some of steemers neglect the necessity of adding some image to their post which is a rude mistake. Images are often as informative as the text and can work for the best of the poster.

How to choose a good image for a post?

That is also a crucial subject as adding a wrong picture can destroy your wonderful text. On the one hand it should refer to the same subject as the text itself  but still it should be eye-catching. For example, publish some photo of you first writing a post under hashtag #introduceyourself and choose horizontal pics: they look much better and are not cut by the system. I suggest choosing some bright but not acid pics; depending on the subject the main colour on the picture should also vary. Writing about your impressions from the system choose its brend colours: white and blue; that will boost the number of those who is likely to associate your story with some good-quality material.

Making up a heading

That may be a revelation for some but still not all upvoted stories are read through by voters. Many open the post, look at the heading and the pics (sometimes including the first paragraph) and go on. So the heading is very important, this is your chance to draw attention and make the person vote.

Be creative but not complicated; the idea standing behind the heading should be transparent, don't make people puzzle over "The moor of the moon in a mood". Well, that looks really nice but still too complicated. The only reason for you choosing such a heading may be a very informative image that reveals the idea behind your post. At the same time the heading should not be plain so that it wouldn't get lost in the depth of steemit website.

2. Length of your post

Never write too much or to little. As mentioned many users don't read the story to the end and so they can get either bored or not satisfied scrolling your post. If you have really much to write about - share your story into parts and make it a kind of Steem series when users will wait for the next chapter to be published. As for me it should be about 400 words long.

This is why I end up right now. Promise that new mechanisms will be unveiled in the nearest future:)
