Hello Steemians! The marketing team would like to update you on how things are going with the crowdsourcing strategy.
We are very excited to see all of the ideas that have been proposed! The sheer volume clearly demonstrates that we require some organizational tools for handling this process, but that’s for another post.
Top Performers
Today we’ll highlight two promising proposals and how they exemplify what a quality proposal looks like.
Those two posts are:
- Growth Idea: From Crowdsourcing Growth Ideas to Crowdfunded Growth Projects - by @cryptoctopus
- Project: Power Up Your Neighborhood - Introducing Sandbox - by @hitheryon
These are two stellar examples of two separate phases of the protocol ( #growth-idea and #growth-project ) that we think everyone who’s interested in spearheading a marketing-related project can learn from.
These are Business Plans
These proposals also highlight a key issue we didn’t address in the protocol post because the goal of that post was to begin this journey and conversation, not to complete it. This issue is that what we are really pursuing with this approach is a new way of presenting a business plan to potential backers (whether that be the broader community or the Steemit Team). The desired return-on-value is the growth of Steem as a whole.
Leveraging The Platform As It Is
as it exists today to develop projects that have the potential to add massive value to the Steem Blockchain without necessitating any changes whatsoever. These users are presenting projects with unique value propositions and concrete benchmarks which can demonstrate meaningful progress before requiring any funding whatsoever. The @hitheryon project, in particular, is a fantastic example of how steemit.com can be leveraged
In short, one should think of the protocol as a map outlining how to begin a value relationship with the Steemit Community (including but not limited to Steemit Inc.). The goal of this process is to figure out what resources all parties have which can then be combined to create the most value for the Steem Blockchain at the lowest cost, thereby benefitting everyone in the Steem ecosystem.
Validation
As two of the top choices made by the crowd, these proposals demonstrate the wisdom of the crowd and confirm the potential of this crowdsourcing strategy. What @cryptoctopus points out is that this process could benefit from a more cohesive organizational infrastructure like DashCentral. While we are not backing such a proposal at this point, we are excited to see where that conversation goes and how that idea evolves over time.
The Bar is Set
As of now, we are actively engaged with @cryptoctopus and @hitheryon and are excited to see where these projects lead. We will, of course, stay on the look-out for promising ideas, and while we feel these projects have set the bar high, we look forward to those that push it even higher.

Great! (But check the links. They are broken)
Thanks! Fixed
Thanks :D
"I like your style @virtualgrowth."
I have posted an idea for communities that work with steemit.com as it is, all we need is sites created for each topic and these sites can grow their own networks that help steemit.com and the value of steem:

Thank you to anyone who checks it out.
oneplace.media has created something similar to this. It seems like it wouldn't be difficult for them to accomplish this as well. You should reach out to them and share your idea.
That's what I'm thinking, sites like theirs and busy.org already have the groundwork done. If we make ones for each topic, they all could stand on their own and bring in their own audience. I'll try to get their attention.
Thank you for the news
I pole vaulted at PENN. I love this picture. :)
Keep up the great work, team.
Both posts above @cryptoctopus and @hitheryon aren't linked to correctly! But i have side question. For regular users, with very simple ideas and proposals that may not be able to meet up with the standards set above, is there some compromise? Me for instance, i looked at the idea and proposals by @hitheryon especially and it feels good, how orderly and formal it looks, even down to images. The truth though is a regular steemit user may have good ideas and perhaps a solid team too but may not be able to produce stunning proposals, is there a little compromise in this case? Are these ideas and proposals still looked into and seen as serious?
Our support for these projects has little to do with their appearance. But their appearance is a reflection of the abilities of the people behind them. We are not saying that every proposal has to look like these, what we are saying is that these are two proposals that were selected by the crowd, and we've outlined what they've done well so that anyone looking to have the kind of success these proposals had can look to them for guidance. We believe that our standards should be closely aligned with the standards of the crowd (i.e. the community).
Are the ideas selected by upvotes on the posts from the crowd? With people on curation bots etc, it seems that upvotes could be a flawed method of accurately reflecting what the crowd really wants...
These ideas haven't been selected, we're merely highlighting them and to do that we combined our subjective judgment with a number of factors including but not limited to upvotes. That being said, what I think these proposals demonstrate is that they are supremely "supportable." Which is to say that after receiving enough upvotes and rewards (which help control for bot behavior) to make the posts top trending in their category, when we look at them we are capable of clearly perceiving how these projects can move forward and the potential role we might one day play in their development.
Thank you alot @andrarchy.
That's Great News!
I think these growth ideas are in themselves already helping the platform grow! As a curator it has been awesome to see all new faces and activity on the platform.
Can't wait to read more upcoming growth-ideas and watch the communities start to grow!
I think that there's a huge opportunity to recruit a significant amount of YouTubers due to the current 'adpocalypse' which is wiping out their earnings. Whilst they won't get thousands right away it's still better than nothing & their following could boost steemit's userbase.
This is absolutely true, and we are eyeing that market.
Really quality proposals look like thanks to update.
These are definitely great proposals form @cryptoctopus and @hitheryon and worth setting the Bar. Re-steemed
If anyone is interested in getting steem intergrated into video games please add your support to this post:
https://steemit.com/growth-ideas/@whatageek/growth-idea-video-games-ya-that-needed-all-caps-p-a-two-path-suggestion
From the discussion so far, it seems the easiest way is to get steem integrated into a game that already exists. If that is possible we can get in talks with a dev team.
My friend great work! :)
thank you for sharing
This blog, the links and the info in the comment section will all come in handy. Thank you everybody!
We're excited to take this project to the next level! Thanks everyone for the support and great feedback!
