In our last past we pointed out why it was important to have consistent naming conventions across your social media accounts to help the Steemit Community grow. But what about your business name?
Choosing your business name is one of the most important steps you can take to bring in customers and have a little more control over how are are perceived online. Cute start up names are fun but they are hard to remember.
Unless you are lucky enough to be the next Twitter, people are not going to remember your name or be able to find you online. Putting some thought into your name matters and you should forget the idea of a one word name and focus on two or maybe even three words.
The first word allows you to be unique and creative. Ok, fine. But if you want people to find your name at least name part of it after something your potential customers are looking for.
If you wanna call yourself Spaboodle, knock yourself out. But if you are a plumber, at least call yourself Spaboodle Plumbing so you will have a chance to be found in online searches. And then describe your business in terms of location when you have the opportunity to do so on your website and social media platforms.
So how does this help Steemit Marketing & Promotion
You may or may not have your own business, blog or brand that you are marketing but I bet you know someone who does.
I have a list of my personal and business contacts to continue reaching out to in order to let them know how Steemit will help their business. This helps us all so I wanted to explain this to our readers.
Its all related to something called Search Engine Optimization and SEO is crucial to every business or brands online success. Having your business name appear in Google, Yahoo and Bing is important and there is lots of competition to do so.
But Steemit is a powerful domain and appears in search engines right near the top. Go ahead and search your Steemit username in Google and you will see what I mean.
Pretty impressive right? Well think about what that will mean for a business. There are only 10 spots on page 1 of the Google search results and 75% of all searchers do not scroll past page 1 results.
Imagine having an extra piece of real estate with your business name on it in the search results. Marketers devote a lot of time and money just to make something like this happening and they charge a pretty penny for it.
Steemit has a MOZ rank of 79. That is an incredibly high number for such a young platform and Google trusts the domain. So signing up for Steemit with a business name or the name of a keyword that a business wants to rank for to drive customers to their site is a no brainer. In fact, if they don't do it, it is downright stupid.
3 Biggiest Benefits of a Business Signing Up For Steemit
Business Name or Keywork appearing in Google Search and protecting an additional piece of search real estate from a Competitor.
The ability to put a powerful backlink in your Steemit Profile pointing back to your business helping your link profile and gaining authority from Google.
The chance to blog about your business or business keywords to rank those posts on google and drive even more organic traffic to your business.
Blogging about your business on Steemit may be the most powerful of them all. We have all learned that Titles of our Steemit Posts are important but even more so for a business. Writing about solving the problems your customers are looking to solve will get you noticed on Google and your phone will ring. Simply using proper Title containing keywords related to your business will do the trick because of the power of the Steemit domian.
Growing the community will help us all but there are benefits to business owners here that go far beyond earning Steem. Let them know why they should join Steemit!
Well said. This post really helped me out. I think people forget about some of the things you said in here.
Thank you I am glad you enjoyed the post!
you are quite right with this, and often times I think this aspect is overlooked, or people just don't even take the time to put any thought or effort into it, which can definitely hinder one's ability to create a support system. I think you nailed it on the head with the shear difficulty of finding one's moniker with SEO, especially if the name is irrelevant to the person or companies particular niche. Great stuff here @steemmarketing
Respect from @conradsuperb
Thank you branding is so important and like you said people get so anxious to sign up they forget to spend time picking the right username/name/brand. And just when you think you have one right you find your not the only one so the search for the perfect brand continues.
always gotta be on the hunt
Thanks for this post! I agree that establishing a known brand name requires significant effort (and costs!). For my part, I've been marketing an online store I built myself from scratch, kittyshirt.com. The struggle is real when it comes to building an audience and marketing to the right people. I've spent a lot on ads in the process but it was a great learning experience for me.
Everyone in marketing can relate no education is free. This gives me a great idea for future piece. How to target your perfect audience without breaking the bank!
Thank you kindly for stopping by and I wish you much success with you online business.
I have my Preloved Books business and I think using hashtags matter too. But, according to my 10-year-old son.He said, " if you want to have a free advertising your brand name should be "Brand X".Because in every TV commercial, they always compare their brand to " Brand X". So, there you go, you've got a free advertisement for your brand. He's smart!!
Brilliant... he's a genius!
I’d not considered this from an SEO point of view so will put some time into researching this. Thanks for sharing the info.
Your very welcome we are here to help!
