RE: Let's Talk—How Can We Improve Engagement on Steemit?

in #steemit7 years ago

Hey Firepower, this is a big topic around Steemit. I see posts by a lot of people trying to figure out the lack of interaction problem.

Part of the issue is curation for the sake of curation rewards, where at the moment you have 53 vote and only 27 views and mostly auto-responded comments. It becomes a gamified system of tracking authors with "usually" high payouts and getting your upvote in fast before the big guys do.

I do not understand at all, why people who are interested enough to write a "human" reply continuing the post conversation and praising the content, etc then won't upvote it. But, we do get a bit of insight on that when we see those people upvoting their own comment, but not the post. Like people reading the magazines at the grocery store checkout line, and putting them back when they're done and not buying it. Again a self-interest on rewards.

They're are groups on Steemit that focus on bringing people together and building close networks of true followers and supporters like Whaleshares, PAL, Looking for Niche, etc. A lot of those efforts and bonds happen off Steemit in Discord and Mumble, then translate back to the users on Steemit.

I love this reply because after I read it, I didn't have to say what I was thinking because this is it! I enjoy a post and always look at the comments to see if there is possibly additional value. That is what dialogue and conversation is about. When I do see a "human response" I upvote. Thank you @steempowerpics.

Indeed, thank you. It's just one of those "things" about Steemit we have to accept.
