There have been many Steemers that have touched on this topic in one way or another.
Whether it is from the likes of the wonderful @rok-sivante or @piedpiper who are both consistently dominating with their posting or the many who are trying to replicate the success of these Steemit Rock Stars. All have touched on the idea of generating value and their views on the workings on Steemit.
Today I want to discuss why @rok-sivante and @piedpiper dominate and will continue to do so.
How many times have you heard “Rome wasn’t built in a day” or “One Brick at a time”…?
Like any great influencer in the world, being seen or getting noticed does not happen overnight. It is generally a long process and a continual dedication to using your own voice and speaking with purpose.
People become influential and listened to for two prime reasons..
They have:
- A clear and relatable message
- Consistent delivery
If you speak with purpose, over time you will get noticed. If you speak with no purpose at all and float with the wind. Your messages, even if they are occasionally valuable will be lost amongst your own noise.
There is an awful lot of people making noise on Steemit, but not a lot people making music.
I’d like to refer to one of our own posts, which is a prime example of this. My fellow writer and team member, The Candy Man posted a story yesterday which we all thought was questionable. View it here.
We all agreed at the beginning that each person who contributed to STEEMZINE gets the final say on whether it is a good idea to post something, and we are not to stifle each other in our posting. That way we deliver you a broad spectrum of unrestricted content.
We all found the piece humorous and ridiculous. However we all at the same time questioned it. The consensus was the piece bought no real value to what we are trying to do. The Candy Man admits to learning his lesson and agreed it created unnecessary noise that would interfere in our goal of bringing you great content.
But one bad post does not mean you are riding a sinking ship. It just means you have to speak more clearly and get away from your own noise. Thankfully we now have that piece firmly on our records not only as a reminder that our mission lies simply in bringing you a compelling and quality content, but also serves to remind how bad noise can be.
I am sure if you watch the feed of Steemit update dynamical, you will agree, we are inundated with so many different posts that 90% of them are creating a great deal of noise resulting in quality posts getting lost.
My Mother Use To Say “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all”
I’m going to take that saying into a slightly different direction.
“If were the reader of your post, would your life be better for reading it”.
Before writing a post or spending energy on putting something on this platform. Pose this question to yourself and your posts will be better for it.
There have been many great leaders and influencers, whose voice grew from a whisper to a roar.
Everyone has heard of Nelson Mandela, if you don’t it’s time you learn. But, he was a prime example of a voice being suppressed. Eventually his message began being recognised and ended up resulting in lasting changes that impacted generations to come.
This came from being consistent in his purpose and from never shutting up.
He went from being classed as a terrorist to being president of a nation. His life is a clear demonstration of how this works.
Steemit is no different.
You will notice the most successful authors on Steemit are the ones who are on a focused mission to value add to your life in one way or another.
It does not matter the topic they choose to focus on, but they all have a common thread to their posts and they stick to their purpose to deliver you new content based around their purpose.
We all are born with our own unique set of offerings. Instead of trying to replicate the success of someone else. Be yourself and share your voice, you don’t need to find it. Be it.
If you take this little piece of advice you may notice over time you will start to be rewarded greatly for your contribution.
Goodluck fellow Steemers and if you enjoyed this edition of Steemzine be sure to give us a follow!

Great message here, thanks for sharing; glad I started following you. I totally agree it's ultimately counterproductive to sell out in the hopes of striking it rich, when in the long run consistency of content and helping your target audience is what's going to be more important.
@runaway-psyche spot on. I think people need to realise that eventually if they just continue to contribute the content they are passionate about, over time it will catch on! It is what we plan on doing.
Awesome, I'll stay tuned!
Man I love bees
me too @rimann
Not only did The Candy Man's post not add anything good, it did nothing to lessen the disparagement of the poor lady with the bad eyesight -- nor could it since it had already gone viral -- unless, of course, the original poster was firmly pulling our leg. My view is that one should err on the side of limiting the possible harm a post could cause, and when necessary forego humor for consideration.
very well said @charleys could not have said it better!
Thank you for this article @steemzine
pleasure @damien-beverly
Oh wow, just came across this now. Humbled with the acknowledgement. Great piece! 🙏
